HI All: I'll be 2 years out from my RNY in August..I've lost about 90 lbs and look and feel great! Except for the lose skin on my tummy!  I recently have gotten boils under the skin flab...Would love to have a TT but wondering if my insurance would pay for it? Has anyone had insurance pay for it and what are they looking for in order to pay for it.

Any advise would be awesome!

thanks!

I have BCBS Personal Choice Insurance. I was getting rashes, infections, ulcers etc. under my belly flap.....very painful!!! My insurance did cover a panni (skin removal) but I had to pay to upgrade to the full Tummy Tuck. My insurance required 6 months of skin disruptions with pictures to prove it, massive weight loss, and skin that hung to the pubic (mons) area. But every insurance company is different. Your best bet is to call them to find out what your requirements are for coverage.

Best regards,

Kathy

Also, talk to your PS's insurance person. He/she should be familiar with which insurances pay and which ones won't. The surgeon's staff can be very helpful with this sort of thing especially if the surgeon does alot of post WLS proceedures.
