Is it normal?

For your surgical scar to open up in a few places, ooze a brownish/yellowish sticky substance, be VERY red, swollen and painful just in those opened areas, and run a fever for over a week (between 100-103) after plastic surgery?  The rest of my incision is healing up nice, no redness, no swelling, no tenderness, no oozing, no nothing.

Call your PS or nurse.
Dehiscence is when incision opens and each PS treats differently.

I had a couple of spots like that. My doc's office said come in immediately if I ran a fever with it. I used anti-biotic cream on mine and it scabbed over. You better call your surgeon right away......sounds like an infection to me.

Good luck,

Kathy

Fever indicates that you may have an infection so call your surgeon.

i have called, EVERY DAY for over a week.  I saw my primary today.  Definite infection.  2 oral antibiotics for the weekend, if no improvement, Im being admitted for IV therapy.  Wound cultures taken.  She is VERY mad and will be addressing my surgeon personally.

OMG, that is TERRIBLE! I am glad that your PCP is helping you. You should report the surgeon to the AMA. Get well soon!

My surgeon always takes my calls promptly. He even had his PA call me from the OR to talk to me about my swelling.

If you get admitted for IV antibiotics (which might be best to get more effective treatment) you might also need debridement or WoundVac on the opened areas.
If GD Forbid that is what happens and you want to talk (or whenever) I am more than willing to make an international phone call if you pm me your number and time difference from Israel (we are 7 hours later than NY).
I'm glad your pcp is on top of things but you have to be proactive for yourself -and you are!
Best of luck-Healing and Health!
