TT 9 months-1 year after GBS?

Did anyone have any experience with having a tummy tuck 9 months-1 year post GBS? I was smaller to begin with and have hit my goal weight. I would now like to move on to plastics. Will a surgeon think this is too soon? Am I doing myself an injustice by getting it so soon just in case I lose a little more weight? Currently I weigh 140 so I'd really like to not lose much more.

Has anyone had plastic surgery this early out? My panni bothers me both physically and emotionally and it's really holding me back...

Some surgeons want you to be at goal at least 6 months before they will operate. I waited until I was close to 3 years out because I wanted to make sure I could maintain my weight. I did not want to mess up my results.

Laura, thanks for the reply. I've seen you say before you needed your plastics "to feel whole again" and I feel like I am in the same boat. How did you deal with it all for so long? I know I should be happy with my weightloss but I'm still having a really tough time dealing with the skin. I just couldn't imagine being where I am and dealing with it for another two years.

Start getting consults now and see what the plastic surgeons say. I had to maintain a 200 pound loss, which was a scary concept. Others here though do get plastics at about a year out. Hopefully they will reply.

My PS recommended that I maintained the same weight for 4-6 months . . .and I did that.  I had my TT 15 months post op from VSG.

I am in the same position as you.  I am 7 mths out now and getting close to goal.  I already want a TT or Panni removal.  My insurance requires 6 mths at a stable weight as one of many stipulations for approval.  :(    Looks like it will be a while, as I am still losing about a lb a week.

I was appoved to have my Grade 3 pannis removed but then found out that I could revise to the sleeve which would allow me to get closer to goal weight. I was not at goal but had maintained my weight for over a year. My insurance wants you to maintain for 18 months. My insurace says they will fast track my panni removal 6 months post revision. I am currently 1 and a half months post op. I have lost 20 lbs and have 30 more to go to be where the Dr. wants me to be before they remove my skin. I have alot of skin, my PS said by the time I am done it will hang to my knee.
Good Luck.

I'd like to introduce myself here as I am a first time responder. I am a plastic surgeon with 15 yrs of experience in post bariatric body contouring.
I accidentally found this forum 3 mths ago when told that OH magazine was being discontinued and that the site was going on line.
I read some of the excellent questions being asked and although some of your responses were excellent, wanted to possibly help clarify some of them for you, if that's ok .
As far as when you can start with your body contouring is very dependent on your plastic surgeon. I myself suggest being at a stable weight for 3 mths. This could be 9 or up to 24 mths post GBS. I hope this has been of some help
