Is this amount of swelling normal after a TT?

Thank you, Kath. I was not prepared for this. My surgeon told me that I'd have some swelling but this was not what I was expecting. So, today I am in my pre-op pants. I have my fingers crossed that this is maybe an indicator that once the swelling goes down I am back into my skinny girl pants (one size smaller than my pre-op pants).

That's awesome! My pants size stayed the same. I just look better in them!

I HOPE to go down a size. I won't know that for a few months. Fingers crossed!!!

What have most of you experienced -- after your TT were you in the same size pants or did you go down a size?

you know i had arm lift with the same surgeon as you, he is not using any compression for all his procedures.

I just called him today and told that i am so swollen in my arms that i cannot even think about work and he told me that i can use compresion if i feel it will help.

please by a bider for your tummy, you will feel much better and i do not think it will do any harm to your boby.

Thanks so much, Alla. I will speak with Dr. C. He said that I could use a binder if it made me feel better but that it would not improve my results. The one thing to be concerned about is skin necropsy, so that is why I did not use one. Also, Scott said that I would swell once I took the binder off anyway, even if it was 3-mos out from my surgery. So it sounds inevitable.

As far as pain, it has gotten much better suddenly. I believe that all of the supplements I take and the nutritious foods I eat have helped me to heal quickly. My drains wounds mended immediately, and there wasn't a drop of blood.

Specializing in post bariatric body contouring for the past 15 yrs. Swelling is normal following tt or body lift and can last typically up to 3 mths.It however can last up to 6mths. You do need to check with your surgeon to make sure the swelling is not a collection of fluid or blood. I like my patients to wear a girdle and abdo binder for a minimum of 6 weeks. Most wear them longer as they like the support.

Just out of curiosity Dr., how long Di you ask your patients to wait after a TT to do abdominal strengthening? I get many different answers.

Hi doctor, thank you for your reply. Based on your comment, I emailed my surgeon and he I'd the best way to distinguish between normal swelling and a collection of fluid and blood is for the degree of fullness to be less in the AM. I wrote him back to tell him that my swelling is the same all of the time, day or night. I am waiting to hear back from him on that. Thank you.
