arm lift and scar location

So, the surgeon i have consulted with locally said over the last year that she has moved her scar location. I need the "long' scar, but she is putting it so that when you wave goodbye, the scar is not visible, it is at the bottom.  That means when standing with your arms by yourside, you can see them from the back.. She said her patients have been very happy with this as the "waving" or talking with your hands motion is much more visible and noticable drawing attention to the scars. Her reasoning makes sense, but I would like to hear from people who have had this procedure done about your opinions about the scar location.

I am so looking forward to my fit shapely arms (on the top) being visible in sleeveless tops!  I have accepted scars as the trade off, but like everyone hope to minimize the impact!

For me, the opposite is true. I do NOT want EVERYONE to be able to see my scars when they walk behind me. Mine are down the center of my inner arm. I much prefer them there. But to each his own.

I agree - i prefer the scars to be invisible when my arms are down by my sides. I dont frequently waive at people though?

Highly personal....  but my surgeon, and many of the surgeon's I've read opinions from on realself, disagree with your surgeon.   They say that patients don't want the scar to always be visible from behind, so that someone behind you in line at the supermarket would see it and might ask what happened.

I've heard some more cynical surgeons claiming that some PS are putting the scars where you describe so that their before and after pictures on their websites look good.  LOL! I don't quite agree with that level of cynicism, but the PS do get a bit catty with each other over this issue!

Is your surgeon willing to place your scar based on your preference?

I have the scar on the inside and am very happy w/ that and it's not very visible. The barista at the Starbucks I go to daily had her arms done and has the scar on the back and it's very visible. Personally for me I don't like the look of hers and whiould prefer them to be more hidden unless I raise my arms.

Thank you all for your input and opionions.  I have found this surgeon to be very responsive and listen to my concerns.

On this particular topic, I need to tuck my tail between my legs, she does not put the scar in the back... I am not exactly sure what she said that I misinterpeted that way.  Anyway, she assured me that it will be drawn on during the preop consult and again the morning of surgery so if i have any concerns with scar location we will have two more times to discuss it.  :)
