Had to drive 2 hours to doctors office to have both J Drains removed today.  Also, had some staples removed and sutures clipped. Day 11 post op extended tummy tuck.  I haven't taken any pain pills today only taking Tylenol and everything is under control.  I'm still bent over a bit and can't straighten all the way up UGH!  I was told that I will be wearing the binder for six weeks total.  My first day out of the house.  On the way home from the doctor we stopped at PALA CASINO for a couple of hours and won $110.00 WOOHOO!!!  Bought some "wife beater" undershirts to wear under my binder too.  Busy day, but had some fun.  Feeling more like myself already :)

Wow! You're doing great at 11 days!! The wife beaters are a great idea. I'll have my surgery in June so it's gonna be HOT. Adding that to my list of stuff to buy.

How did it feel when they pulled the drain out?

Faedra,

YIKES!  I have to admit it really hurt.  My husband held my hand as I squeezed.  However, once there out, it's over.  I had no idea how long the drains were.  Sorry for the bad news.

I have tons of tenderness around one of the tubes. Was the pain around insert or the whole stomach...

How long after surgery did they take it out

I had four removed. Felt the sensation of movement - like a worm crawling on your skin - but no pain. The last one pulled was curled above my belly button, and I had a close up view of it moving under my skin. Freaky, but painless. Hope yours goes as smoothly as mine!

Did the nurse tell you to take a deep breath and exhale as they were pulling it out? Concentrating on that usually distracts you enough where you don't really feel any pain just a little discomfort. I've had quite a few drains pulled over the past couple of years and this trick works for me.

Yes a nice long slow exhale and it will be over by the time you are done.
