Anything special I should be doing prior to plastics to ensure the best outcomes and healing?  Definitely keeping up on my protein, vitamins, fluids, exercise- but just wondering if there are specific things I should focus on within any of those categories and/or others to ensure the best possible recovery/outcome.  Thanks!

Work on your core - pilates, yoga, hula hoop - the stronger those muscles are the easier it will be to get in and out of bed after the surgery.  And for after the surgery make sure you start taking a stool softener that day.

I agree with strengthening your core as much as possible.

A few months before my tummy tuck I got a 'ball chair' at Target -- it is a large exercise ball that sits into a frame (about 79.00) and when I had my surgery, my surgeon told me that I had the tightest ab muscles he has seen in 25 years of cutting.  He had to do very little reconstructive work.

He is also a big proponent of fresh pineapple in the 2 days before surgery ---- says that it has an enzyme in it that helps with swelling and bruising.
