how long was it until you could go swimming? i'm having surgery (extended TT and hip & thigh lipo) june 6 and am probably moving back in with my parents right before until i find a job. that pool is going to be mighty tempting! i know i won't be able to right away, i think it was 2 weeks after my rny before i could swim/take a bath. is it the same time frame or longer?

I'm thinking it was 4-6 weeks, but I can't remember.

8 weeks for me.  if you are having an extended TT, you will have internal and external stitches that need to totally heal before you immerse yourself in a swimming pool or hot tub.  My doctor said it was extremely important to not be in a public pool for 8 weeks.  He said the chance of infection is great with a public pool.

however, he said, once all the scabs are off and I am totally healed externally, he would be fine with me taking a bath at home.
