Hi there,
A real newbie here, completely at the beginning stages of this wls.

I believe I know the difference between an LBL and tummy tuck, and if I understand this right, an LBL is covered under OHIP and a tuck is not?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Don't know OHIP but guessing that if a TT isn't covered and LBL wouldn't be covered. You might be confusing an LBL w/ a panni removal. Panni is just the removal of the excess skin, no muscle tightening or belly button moving. Insurance usually will cover that portion if they are going to cover anything. A LBL is a lower body lift or a 360 tummy tuck. It's a full tummy tuck and goes all the way around to the back and deals w/ the excess skin on the butt and usually lipo of the hips and outer thighs. Not something you are going to see an insurance company cover especially if they won't cover a regular TT.

I agree with the other poster.  I have rarely seen insurance cover a LBL.  A LBL goes around your entire body.  IT brings up and pulls down skin from your back, sides and tummy.  It's major.

A TT is only from hip to hip with Mons pubis raised and belly button repositioned.  Muscle tightening is included.  Most insurances do not cover this either.  But more cover the TT than the LBL.

The panni removal is the one that is usually covered.  You have to meet specific criteria and have documentation from your PCP - most of the time.

Panni removal is what is covered by OHIP. Which is a removal of the skin that hangs under the belly button. You need to be at a stable weight for at least 6 months ( I was told a year, but i've heard 6 months elsewhere) and have issues with the amount of skin hanging to be approved (back pain, rashes etc.)

Thank you all very much, I have a long way to go before any of the ps part of my journey starts but it's great to have an idea of what's next.

Thanks again
Annette
