1 day post op extended tt, can I take pain med more than every 4 hours?

I'm needing the pain pills every 2 1/2 - 3 hours can I take a pain pill and not wait until the 4 hours as prescribed? Did you?

First I would like to say congrats on your surgery! How did it go? As far as pain medication goes, which one are you taking? I was only taking Tylenol. I took it every six hours as directed by my PS. Did the nurse or Dr go over your meds with you before leaving the hospital? If not, or if you forgot what they said then I would give them a call. You don't want to mess with pain meds!

I called my Dr. he said for the n it. ext couple days I can take pain med every 3 hours if needed. I definitely need it. I have pain pump for 3 days.

If they gave you an anti-nausea meds, even if not, take it w/oxy because it activates it.

Yes, I was prescribed a suppository for nausea which I had to use this afternoon. I thought I was going to throw up, it was horrible. The suppository worked right away.

I took a Benadryl with my pain meds and it helped me sleep for several hours .... When I woke up it was long enough to take more if I needed it.

I needed more pain meds and used benedryll, but don't forget the colace! :-)

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

I could have two pain (oxycodone) every 4 hours so I checked with the doctor and he said it was okay to take one every two hours which I did and I had minimal discomfort
