upper arm surgery
Time off work would depend a lot on the physical requirements of your job, it also depends on factors that you can't really predict - like how quickly you will heal and how much pain you will be in. I've seen people go back to desk jobs in a matter of days (not ideal, but some have no choice) but taking at least a week off is more typical. Some take two weeks off. Can you work at home, or arrange to go back part-time at first? There may be some creative solutions that will give you more flexibility and time to heal while not getting too behind at work.
I've had a pretty good recovery, just some minor complications that are quickly resolving. My arm lift was on Feb 14th - so about 2 1/2 weeks ago. If I had a desk job, I'd feel OK going back to work now but I'd probably wear out quickly. I'm still in compression 24/7, which is a bit awkward but is really the most comfortable thing to do right now. I'm swelling a LOT, which I guess is normal but makes my arms ache. Most of my incision lines look great (they go from elbow to armpit, then a little bit from armpit to the side of my chest, but not very far). I did get a hole in my right armpit, about the size of a dime now, but that isn't all that abnormal and I just have to dress it and keep it clean to avoid an infection. It is healing. I also had a yeast infection that made my arms very raw and red, but the surgeon diagnosed it and put me on antifungal cream which has almost completely cleared that up in just a matter of four days!
Even with the swelling, I can tell my arms look fantastic. I'm so glad I did this. Hopefully I won't have anymore complications.
By the way, you may want to go check out "real self". It's a site with lots of info about different surgeries. including arm lifts. You can see questions and answers from surgeons on there. I have found that really helpful and you might like it too.
Good luck!

It's ok to be a "wimp" and baby yourself a bit. Really, the more careful you are, the better... so if you are able to take off three weeks definitely do it! If you want to go back earlier, you always can...
Good luck!!
