Which is worst discomfort - front or back of LBL?

I have already had the FDL TT and I know how that felt and how I moved but from ladies that have had a LBL done at the same time, which was a worst discomfort to you, the front or the backside?  I just worry about bending some and pulling the back stitches apart.  In the front, you walk bent over and you kinda protect that area but I feel the back is left wide open.  What are your experiences between the different areas?

The back side of the body lift never hurt at all! The tummy tuck and areas of lipo were far more painful.

I don't remember a terrible amount of pain when I had the LBL about 7 years ago -- but I do remember that the scariest night of my life was when the back part of the LBL opened up -- it was about a month after the surgery, soon after all the stitches were removed. There was a lot of fluid in there that just poured out. I was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night. They called my plastic surgeon, who told them to pack it, tape it closed and bandage it, and then he had me come to his hospital (it was about an hour away) early the next morning, where he did the closing of the wound to his satisfaction. This summer I did an Upper body lift, and again there were areas of the back that opened -- nothing like the LBL, though. It also occurred at the backs of the thighs.I never had this problem with the front, the breasts, the arms or the front of the thighs. The back is a problem area because it does pull.

This is one of my greatest worries.  I don't worry about the pain but the skin pulling apart scares me.  How do you sit on the toliet or in the car without straining the skin that is already pull tight on the backside?

The truth is that I would still worry because of what I went through. I suppose I would want the outside stitches left in longer, and perhaps use a tape or butterflies still longer. Not everyone has this problem or it wouldn't be done so often, so I hope other people post that did not have this problem. When I had the upper body lift and I started opening, we (the surgeon and I) kept the stitches in longer the 2nd time. And then I used tape and bandages just to feel more secure.

Front was the most painful, never had any pain in the back.  All of my stitches were dissolvable, and I never had any pulling or any oozing or anything.  I think you've been through the worst part!

Kim:

How much give did you have in your back area when you sat or were you in a more recline position and if so, for how long.

The only thing causing me any pain (I'm 3 weeks out from a LBL) is the muscle repair, which is all in the front.  The incisions have never been a problem either pain-wise or healing.  Most of the incision line is pretty numb.  The incisions themselves are closed and I'm using silicon strips to flatten the scars.

My back aches because I'm still bent over like a little crone!  After awhile, the stress on the back from this position causes it to ache.  Pillows help.  I'm teleworking this week and can sit by my computer 4-6 hours without a problem as long as I get up and walk around every now and then.

Thank you so much for the reply.  I guess I am just thinking about the awkwardness of the location of the cut on the backside.  I don't fear the pain, just worry that I might pull something apart sitting up.  I had such a good healing from my FDL TT that I worry that I will screw something up on the back side of the lift.

I totally understand.  I was originally going to do just the tummy tuck because I couldn't wrap my head around how a 360 degree incision could heal.  I'm glad I did the full LBL.  The incisions have been nothing to deal with, other than dressing them for a few weeks.  The compression garment keeps everything really padded down and I never felt insecure about the incisions.
