Thank you - I am very pleased with the results especially looking so good early out. Im a little paranoid now about the possibility of dog ears, but It can always be corrected so it wont be the end of the world. Besides - I might luck out - only time will tell. Thanks again for all the input. I really appreciate the tips. - Shayne

I wouldn't be "paranoid" about dog-ears, but they're hard to avoid on weight loss patients who are full posterior-laterally. It goes with the territory. I've gone to encouraging more of my patients to just go on and do the full circumferential procedure as the contour is better and you eliminate the dog-ear problems. Nobody (patient or surgeon) likes having to go back and touch those up.

The bruising in those areas (the line of closure and belly button inset) are the areas where the circulation is poorest. You just want to watch that a little closer to make sure it's just a bruise and not something suggesting progression to some skin slough. I would just be careful about too much pressure (from the binder) on them during the early period. If they're not changing much at a week-10 days out then you're probably golden.

Again, I think they nailed the front which is the area people are most concerned with.

Thanks for sharing! I'm getting more nerve up every day, and seeing real photos helps with getting ones head where it needs to be. I think you look great already. It's going to be incredible when it fully heals! Don't worry about dog ears! It's going to look fine!

I keep thinking how much easier exercise and mobility will be w/o my flopping belly (which is MUCH bigger than yours!). Keep us posted on your healing!
