Could you explain in more detail what I should say to the doctor when I go in for my pre-op appointment.  I have been in to him for two consultations, one more recently when we decided the type of panniculectomy and breast reduction I was going to have, but he made no mention of the Mons Pubis.  Is it fat that would be reduced by liposuction or by pulling up skin?

Thanks for your clarification!

Lipo and Lift. This is vital. Just plainly ask him if he plans to lift your mons.

I just had the panni surgery this past Monday. I haven't had pain meds since the recovery room, but everyone is different. I get constipated on T3s, and I haven't gone since Sunday, so I started taking a stroll softener yesterday. Once I finally go, I might take pain meds just to help me sleep for more than an hour at a time.
I went home after 24 hours with two drains and a binder. I am hanging out in a recliner and drinking lots of water to help with the swelling. Good luck!!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Congrats on having your panni surgery! I had mine done 1/7/2013. Just went to see the doc for my 3 1/2 week check up and I have a bit more edema than he expected, so a new antibiotic and no slacks or underware while at home till my next check up on Tuesday. He thinks the slacks and underware are too binding. I'm glad I have some nightgowns!

My doc specifically said not to wear anything binding. I guess that's why there are so many different doctors out there. Lots of different opinions. I think that wearing a binder & spanx would be hot here in the desert Southwest. (New Mexico). Maybe sweating would be worse??

Lol. We don't have that problem right here in Canada at the moment.

I loved my Compression Garments.  I wore them longer than recommended and they really decreased my swelling.  I also had no open incisions or wound openings.  I had my surgery in May 2011 and spent 3 weeks in NM - sweating was nothing compared to the feeling I had without the garments.

These are all good suggestions.  I am going to ask my surgeon about the mons when I see him Monday.  I am really worried about the pain and the drains.  I think I will steal my hubbys pjs.  I had bought some sweats to lounge around in but I am rethinking that.  I believe they told me I would have a binder to wear after surgery to keep the drains from pulling on anything.  I will be in the hospital for 2 days.  How long before you could shower?  Thanks so much for the responses they have helped alot.

Good Luck, Tammy and keep us informed! You will do fine! Yes, I had pain, but each day gets better and the end result is soooo worth it!  I'm just 3 1/2 weeks post op from my Panni, so still quite a bit of swelling, but no real pain any longer!
