How would you compare (pain/recovery) a c-section with a tummy tuck?
Hello!
I'm very excited to be starting my "plastics" journey. I've lost over 140 pounds and I'm looking to get my arms, neck, and stomach fixed. Lots of droopy, saggy skin to contend with. I've already had my plastics consult and I have my dates set! ***insert high pitched girlish squeal here*** I'm very excited. And terrified.
The first round of surgery will be an arm lift and some neck work. Then about 7 weeks later I'll be having an extended tummy tuck. Eek!! But yeeaaa!!
I'm trying to get my mind ready for all the pain that I know will come with these surgeries. I've had a few surgeries in the past (including a gall bladder removal, the sleeve, and two c-sections). I wondered how the tummy tuck compares to c-sections - or if it does at all. The is the pain significantly worse than a c-section? The incision is longer and then there is the muscle tightening, so I can imagine it is worse... but how much worse?
I wish I could say that I was really strong and good with pain, but if i am honest I'd have to admit that I'm a bit of a wuss.
ok...shooting straight here...I have had 3 c-sections and a laproscopic hysto and WLS......honestly nothing was close to this.
I had an extended TT and BL with a Fleur de Lis cut....I had muscle tightening and 2 hernias repaired. C-section is a walk in the park.
The pain is so much different, as you are only dealing with skin but the abdomen is used for EVERYTHING you do. My biggest learn was that I had to rely on someone for EVERYTHING for the first 2 weeks....
I have no regrets and i am really happy with the results but it is by far the most pain I have had. To put it in perspective, I had kidney stones and refused to take pain meds....I took the pain meds regularly after this surgery.
It does not last forever and the results are well worth it. I am much happier with my body and in the end, that is all that was important to me.
I have had two c-sections, hysterectomy through c-sec scar and then had LBL and breast augmentation and lift. Also had the gastric and then an emergency surgery a few days after because my pouch opened back up. I was pleasantly surprised. I was only out two weeks and in bad pain for the first two days...other than that was pretty easy for me. I know everyone is different. I was back to work at two weeks. I feel like I had pretty easy recoveries with each. I would not say worse pain I would just say different. I was sorer but not in more pain. Hope this helps.
