Just wondering if anyone had been through this process? What are the guidelines ....can I be rejected? What kind of candidate Are they looking for?  And the most important....  Cost?  I've read posts with it ranging from $3600 up to $4200.....is this the difference in what surgical center you chose?

I had lower body lift and BL with upper body lift at KU.  Dr. Punurru is the board certified plastic surgeon who heads up the program.  A doctor (resident) will come in and talk with you about what you want, what is realistic, etc...they will photograph and measure you. After that is done they will go out and talk with Dr. P and they will both come back in and Dr. P will examine you and agree or disagree with the resident.  I had quotes done for LBL, face lift and BL/upper body lift. I had LBL done Nove 2011, spent 1 night in hospital (def needed it) off work 3 weeks. I paid extra $500 for hospital stay and extra $300 for OnQ pain pump -also def worth it, had 2 1/2 hr ride home the next day. 4 months later had breast lift/upper body lift.  I have had no regrets! the care was top notch - I am an RN with almost 30 yrs hospital experience - these people were great! No complications or issues at all.  Went back to work 4 weeks LBL and 4 days BL/upper body lift. The LBL was $5800 and upper was around$3K. What would I have done differently,  they dont include liposuction in the price/procedure - I would have asked for lipo to my back between the upper and lower incisions.  Feel free to contact me any time!

Awesome info!,,  do you recall the stipulations for candidates for surgery?  My concern is I am still considered overweight or obese by medical standards 5'8" 230 Lbs.    but I've been this weight for 5 years now.

I would not let Dr. Satish  Ponnuru,  do surgery on my dog.  Two years ago he attempted to do briachoplasty on my arms after a 170 lbs weight loss.  My arms are horrible no excess skin was removed.  My skins was damaged where he did cut, I am an African American with big pink spots on my arms were he damaged the level of tissue that retains color.  I still had shooting pains in my arms as if I am being poked with pins.  I realized that he had jacked up as soon as I came out of the anesthesia and saw how big my arms still were.  His answer was "oh that is swelling." He wanted me to reapply to the insurance company for him to correct the surgery so that he could be paid.  "Heck to the naw."

I later went to one of his colleagues for a consult.  He asked if  Dr, Ponnuru was aware of how my arms were.  My insurance denied a second corrective surgery so I am stuck with jacked up arms until I can afford to pay cash.  I'd had two previous plastics surgeries at KU with Dr. Lawrence (he is no longer there) and everything went well.  My weight was similar to yours.  I would not use Dr. Ponnuru.  My cousin has used Dr. Korentager and has had good results.

I consulted and of course the resident and the attending doctor both asked me about my weight stating that they would ideally like me to weigh less. I simply told them, well I'm not here because I'm unhappy with how much I weigh, I'm here because I'm unhappy with how my stomach looks! Once that blurted out of my mouth they both decided that it would be fine to go ahead with my tummy tuck just so that I have a realistic expectations of it. I and scheduled for February 22nd only 2 more weeks until my life is changed! I'm doing a tt only at ku med for $4800

i'm 5'0" and around 155, which is still on the low end of bmi for obese. i've been at this weight for a year and a half or so. i met with the surgeon i'm intending on using last wednesday and he said while he would prefer to see me at a lower weight that this is obviously where my body wants to be. my cost includes the extended tt, lipo on my hips and inner thighs, and the surgical center costs (no overnight stay) and its $12,410. i'm not sure what the tt itself is and my paper is in a folder somewhere
