Bracioplasty advice
I had my arms done Tuesday. After 48 hours I was able to take the Ace bandages off and shower. I was grateful to take them off for much of my discomfort seemed to be coming from them. I now, however need to keep the incisions covered with something, to keep clothing from rubbing against them, keep them moist with aquaphor and to keep any drainage from getting on my clothes. The problem is, everything I try doesn't seem to work. I have taped abdominal pads, used 4x4's wrapped with cling bandages, even the Dr. office gave me some tube gauze to try. Nothing stays put. I wake up all unraveled and gauze in the bed or my sleeves. Any one have any good ideas just short of duct tape?
There is a type of bandage that has an adhesive on it. I believe 'coach' is one of the brands that is out there. It is long like ace bandages but a much thinner material with an adhesive on it that makes it stick to itself. I would put some 4x4s on your arms and wrap that around it. It is elasctic like ace bandages so you can stretch it - be careful to not pull it too tight. But once you put it on correctly, it should stay put. I used it on a spot on my thigh after surgery that was taking longer to heal. It worked well. Depending on how long you need to use it, you will probably need a lot of it.
I just continued to use the Ace wraps during the day and at bedtime because it not only protected the incisions but kept the swelling down. In the evening at home, I wore soft long sleeve shirts.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I was in ace bandages for 4 days and then was instructed to use compression sleeves provided by surgeon. For about a week, I used gauze pads between incisions and sleeve until all drainage had stopped.
I am creating my own revolution and PAMdemonium reigns!
