A guys LBL
Little background; High weigh was 347, got sleeved in the mid 290's. Been 210 ish for the past 7 months. Need to get LBL along with a manboob reduction. Decided to prioritize the procedures since it was all going to be out of pocket. Got the LBL and my weigh in was 212 right before surgery. The day after surgery I weighed in at a cool 224. The doc removed 5 lbs of tissue and fat. A little recap of the recovery thus far even though I am only 4 days in; First 2 days, hardest part is getting up and going to the restroom. Urinating takes on average 15 minutes to begin the dribble, BM's, have had 2 and both were painful. I have lots of swelling around the scar and the skin is very tight. I think I am allergic to the tape because I am itching like a dog with fleas... It is non stop. I had a bit of a fat pad in the pubic area, that has tightened up a lot... and like others, my nutts are swollen to about 2x the normal size. It is a bit uncomfortable, but should go down in time. Tomorrow I am going to start walking more. I will still slouch over, but I want to at least try to make it around the block. I have a follow up appointment this Wednesday, so I hope it all goes well. I have no regrets spending the 9 grand. I am 42, I feel great and I have a desire to stay healthy. Any questions, ask...I will post some pics when I figure out how to do it :)
I came to this forum to see what others had to say about the surgeries. It was surprising to see that a man had a lbl, but way to go! I know a lot of men want to lose their Moobs, but not get lifted. I hope you can post some before & after photos. Congratulations!!!
I am a 44 year old male and am nine weeks post-op from a lower body (with stomach muscle tightening) & arm lift. I was thrilled with the results after six weeks and my doctor assured me that I was still quite swollen. Right after the eight week mark the swelling dropped considerably and I can't believe what a transformation these surgeries are. I am shocked (in a wonderful way) when I look in the mirror. I'm having a medial thigh lift in mid January to finish the job and I agree that this is the best money I ever spent. These procedures have completely changed how I feel about my body.
Just be patient and I hope you're as thrilled with the results as I am with mine.
I feel fortunate that i did not need any muscle tightening. I did have a double hernia that was also fixed that they are guessing was from my initial gastric sleeve procedure. From what I hear, the muscle tightening is the painful part in the recovery. Part of my weight loss was ridding a bicycle and working out with weights. I ride my road bike on average 120-160 miles a week and I work out with weights 3 or so times a week. When I weighed 340 I could bench 310 3 times and had a bit of a power lifter build. Now I struggle getting up 220 twice... My goal is to just bench my weight and I am happy. My road bike has turned into my therapist. I ride when I am angry, need alone time or just want to release some sodium. I am a religious guy, and I have some of my best quiet times when I am on the open road. I feel blessed that I caught my health before it got beyond the point of no return (diabetes, bad liver etc). Now instead of watching my kids soccer game, I coach... instead of telling my kiddos to eat right, I eat with them... Weight loss has changed my life, I hope others have similar results to the ones I have experienced.
Tom, levittown_loser, had his LBL in Jan '11 plus, he had and UBL and man boob lift. He has pics over on Dr Sauceda's group. He posted daily about his recovery. You can click on Dr Sauceda in my siggy line and it'll take you to the group. If you go back around page 80-85 or so, you can read about his surgeries and recovery. Jan 11, 2011 was his hernia repair, LBL, inside groin and 1/2 arms...1/19, his UBL... He also has a men's group here on OH. Tom also posted pics in the photo section.
Great on your recovery, do take it easy though. Walking is great exercise while you are healing.

Quick update; Feeling 10 times better. Swelling is going down. Only issue I had was a small amount of separation under the steri-strips. We put new ones on and left it at that. It was right above the butt crack and I think it was from the way I was sitting. I went and saw Hobbit not realizing it was a 3 hour movie... Being stuck in an uncomfortable seat for 3 hours a week after surgery is not recommended... That was my bad... Aside from that, only time I use pain meds is right before bed to help me sleep through the night . I walk from 3-5 miles a day. I am not very fast, but I am out trying to keep the exercise up and stay flexible. Since I have slowed down on the pain meds, body functions have returned to normal (BM, urine and... adult functions). So all in all I am happy with the progress... My stomach in the front is pretty flat, my belly button is healing well, still have swelling around the love handle area on the sides and I still itch throughout the day... Of everything that is the biggest problem is the itching...
My 2 week follow up is this Thursday, so we will see how that goes :) Thanks again to all for the input and advice. Have a blessed Holliday!
