Six weeks out from LBL today - pics on profile

I am six weeks out from my lower body lift with liposuction on the outer thighs and I thought I would share the progress… I had 21.5 pounds of tissue removed from around my body, and 1700 mLs of fluid removed with the lipo (so about 25 pounds).  So far I am down 34 pounds on the scale and about 9 inches around my hips.  The pain was not as bad as I expected at all, but it has taken this entire six weeks to get my appetite and energy back.  My incisions are healing really well and my scars are very thin.  At this point, the only real problem I have is swelling and fluid build up around the incisions in the front.  My surgeon was able to aspirate about 50ccs of fluid in the office yesterday, but there may still quite a bit more, so I am scheduled for an ultrasound on Friday where they will either try to draw out more fluid or place a new drain.

So far I am very happy :)  Plenty of before and after pictures on my profile...

Amazing. Good for you. The front of my thighs look like yours. Did your surgeon want to do any lipo there?  I think I need lipo but maybe the front can just be addressed if I ever get a thigh lift.

Yes, when we discussed the inner thigh lift, which will probably happen later next year, she said she would want me to either lose some more weight in my thighs first or have some liposuction.  She did say the additional lipo of the thighs could be done at the same time as the inner thigh lift.

WOW. What a transformation and only 6 weeks out.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm scheduled to have a lower body lift in Feb. I carry most of my excess skin in my butt ,abs and thighs. My surgeon recommended doing a lipo of the thighs in a secondary procedure and then an inner thigh lift. I'm just looking forward to getting through the LBL.  I've tried to gather as much info as possible to be prepared, but it is always good to hear what others recommend. So is there anything you wish you had during your recovery or would tell someone they have got to have?

Thanks for your input and congratulations on the new you broken heart

You know, the surgery wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be.  Gathering all the information you can and being prepared is the best thing you can do!  Thanks to the advice I found on this forum, I brought ready to drink protein shakes and protein bars to the hospital with me, which was a life saver since eating was difficult for weeks.  I also had a toilet seat riser, a walk-in shower with a seat, and wedge pillows for my bed, all of which were essential.  Probably the best thing I did was ask my surgeon for an On-q pain ball.  She doesn’t typically use them, but she was more than willing to accommodate my request and it greatly helped with the pain those first few days.  It definitely made it easier to get up and walk a little the day of surgery.

Good luck with your surgery in February!
