I am 11 days out of having my lower stomach excess skin removed. Week 1 was very rough. Yesterday had drains removed and felt so much better. But last night was horrible. In a lot of pain. Have been sleeping on the couch for the whole time. Last night tried to sleep in my bed. Horrible idea. After a few hours I was in major main left horrible everything hurt. Had to come back down to couch. Is it going to get easier? Will I be able to sleep in my bed soon? What can I do to help in my recovery? I am going crazy being at home. Miss running and working out. Tired of watching tv and sitting. I get tired quickly. I get bursts of energy but I am afraid I will hurt my recovery if I do too much.

Yes!  It will get better.

I had a lower body lift and breast lift on November 9th.  I was back in my bed after only one week.  I slept propped up on pillows in an almost seated position, with other pillows around my sides and under my knees.  Now, I'm sleeping flat again and can even roll on my sides for a bit!

The best thing that helped me was walking!  I was walking 2 miles per day after 3 days of being home....Granted it took me over an hour to walk that because I was moving very slowly, but I did it and it made me feel much better.  I'm going to try running this weekend (doctor approved).....there is light at the end of the tunnel...hang in there!

Yes, it absolutely gets better :)  I had my body lift six weeks ago.  I was sleeping in my bed right away, but only propped up in a reclining position for about three weeks.  After two weeks I felt the same way you do now – sick and tired of sitting around watching tv.  Sleeping had become difficult even in the reclining position, because I would wake up after a few hours with a burning pain in my lower abdomen.

What helped me was going for a short walk OUTSIDE everyday.  Something about putting on shoes, leaving the house, and getting some fresh air just felt so productive.  I started just going out to get the mail, then worked up to two blocks to the grocery store.  Everyday gets a little better, and I could see a huge difference in my energy level and mood every week.  I started to really feel “human” again by about 4 weeks, and couldn’t wait to go back to work.  Now that I am working again, I can’t wait to get home and watch some tv…
