Let's talk NECROSIS.

Well, I'm 2 weeks out from my revisions and thigh lift and I have developed necrosis on the Anchor area of my Body lift. Surgeons only instructions are to use the Silvadene cream, cover it and wear my binder. Anyone else experience this and if so what was your treatment plan?

Not experiencing necrosis but the "T" or intersection between the upwards cut and horizontal is trying to pull apart. Using polysporin per my surgeons suggestion and keeping it covered..seems to be slowly growing scab/skin ..we shall see.  Let us know how the cream works - havent had sulvadine in a while!

Wo-I guess you forgot my story last August 2011!
The t intersecting went slough and then gangrene about size of a dime.
Socialized Medicine meant I was in hospital with debridement under anesthesia (I was terrified and couldn't stop shaking!) and packing. After two days the PS team decided to pit me on the Wound Vac and keep me in hospital for the duration (as I live alone and thre and a half hours away by public transportation); I could have been sent home with a home mini Wound Vac that worked on battery that charged for six hours and worked 14 at a time.
My PS helped me by keeping me in hospital.
After debridement I asked a resident to take a picture of how bad it looked in between rounds on the WV (3 days on one off and evaluate). I can email useful if you want.
During my Boob Lift I was revised to total flatness in the lower abdominal region.

Oh I for sure remembered your story and was hoping that you would comment. It kinda freaks me out because my surgeon act's like it's no biggie and that the cream and a scar revision will be the fix.

Yes I will inbox you my email address if yon want to send me anything. In return I will send you what mine looks like.

I had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy a little over a year ago.  I had a spot on each breast that had necrosis as well.  My treatment was the same - use ssd daily on each spot and cover with a bandage.  It took some time, but the spots did eventually heal.  On one breast, I still have some scarring that is very slowly healing.

Thanks for your reply. Every time I see it I am a bit freaked out. How much cream did you use at each application?

You just put a thin layer of cream on the area.  The doc said ' you're not frosting a cake'.  That explanation was pretty good for me.

Yes I can tell that it's going to leave an ugly scar and my OR nurse wants to do a scar revision when we do my breast lift but I does that mean opening up that area again. This is already the product of a revision. Like you I'm not sure I want to re visit it.
