Sleep, where have you gone?
Ever since my RNY I have had to take sleep medication to make sure I stay asleep longer than 3-4 hours. When my back would bother me, my pain meds would do the trick if I had to take one. Now, with the LBL I've been having to keep my pain med in me on a regular schedule. (we tried to back off a bit and ...oh no...body was not happy)
I'm just at my witts end here and ready to cry and beg for more than 3 hours of sleep. Is it too far off the rocker to think that I'd rather be sore in the morning so that I can take my sleep medication and rest as opposed to staying up all night with no pain?
I know that I "can" take both Norco and Trazadone but I don't normally mix medications unless my doctor orders it so.

TAKE your sleep meds. I do. My doctor has given me approval. I took on last night.....2 hrs after my NORCO and slept beautifully....from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. You need your sleep to heal. Confirm with your doctors again, that it is OK and then TAKE YOUR MEDS. IT will be the best thing that you can do for yourself and your healing.
Thanks, I got to reading last night on the "risk" of mixing the two...it has a moderate contraindication warning. Suggests you not operate heavy machinery or do anything where you need to be alert....really? Like I was going to take my pain medication, sleep medication and go dig a hole for a pool with a backhoe? xD LOL I'm taking my meds tonight! (and hopefully there's no farm equipment included)

Yes, please take your sleep med and let me know how you do. I will be curious to know how your did. I bet tomorrow when you wake up, you will feel like a new person. My nurse suggested that if you are nervous about taking too many meds that have sedative effects, then separate them out by 1 or 2 hrs. NO harm in taking them together, but if you are anxious about it, take your Norco at 10:00 and your sleep med at 11:00....or whatever your bedtime schedule is. Have a good night's sleep and I will be thinking about you and want to hear how it went....
Well, took my Norco about 40 minutes ago - another half hour and I'll be taking my sleep medication. When I wake up I'll post and see how I feel tomorrow as well.
I know it's not the anemia thats got me feeling poopy, I was born anemic and am used to it. Unless I'm looking at chronic fatigue syndrome which could be the case (doc has suggested it more than once) I seriously think that getting enough sleep will set me back on track to be able to move around easier and rest as needed. I almost fell today because I was falling asleep while walking to the kitchen, yet once I got in bed I wasnt sleepy any longer...UGH - ;P
