cardiomyopathy

Aye what a journey this has been. 7 weeks ago I had an inverted t tummy tuck. Last Monday I was getting ready to get in shower and I felt like I was having a heart attack. I had to call 911, and all signs pointed to a heart attack. I spent 5 days in the hospital to find out I have cardiomyopathy. My heart muscle is weak and not working properly, the doctors are calling it stressed induced. I'm starting to wonder if having this surgery was the right decision for me, and then when asked if I would do it again I say yes. Perhaps i sustained some brain damage too, cause I'm pretty sure most sane people would say HECK NO!!!!!  The only positive I can find in my journey (I also have a pretty large open area that has to be packed 3 times a day) is that I have lost so much weight from being sick and the 11 pounds that were cut off that I'm starting to really enjoy the results of my tt. In fact when the firemen got here I kept begging them, "Please don't let me die, I haven't got to enjoy my flat tummy yet." I'm a little crazy, huh? LOL

Has this happened to anyone else? I am only 39 years old. My heart was great before surgery. MY doctor was very thorough before the procedure cause his primary focus is weight loss patients and we have different needs and takes every procotion to make sure we are in good health before he does the surgery. My heart was great before, not now.  Adivce or similar stories would be appreciated. PLEASE!!!!!  and Thank You!!!!

Sorry to hear about your condition. Here is a link to some clinical information. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/cm/

PS are not trained to look for this condition and even a one time ECG may not show this disease. May I suggest you see a cardiologist who will refer you to a cardiology specialist called an electrophysiologist to give you more information and prognosis.

Wishing you the best,

Shelly
