What did you tell the office?

I work for a small business and am part of the leadership team. We are close-nit and they about my WLS. However, I don't want to disclose the plastic surgery. I know per Hippa laws I don't HAVE to but it will be VERY odd for me to take the time off not work and not tell them about the surgery.
Im torn on what I should do. What did everyone else do/say when it came down to telling the office?
thanks!
I was up front with my DS and my PS. It came back to bite me in the butt at my last review. As I'm the only person who has ever taken off 2 months twice. When I go back in Jan for my UBL, I'll be traveling and using leave not disability. If the State of California approve my disability, that should have been the end of it. NOT.
If you are torn, just say you are having female surgery...

For my thigh lift, I went on a "10 day vacation".
I work in the corporate world that is heavily male and the less they know, the better.
I am concerned about this to some extent. I am a student now, and could care less what the other students think. But part of the reason I keep thinking about having plastics at my year anniversary, is the simple fact that I will be in my last semester of school. That way I won't have to deal with this concern when I go to work next fall. I don't have any advice, but do thank you for posting this Ro. If I can't have surgery in a few more months, then I am interested to see how others have/will deal with this situation.

I like someone's suggestion about "female" issues you have to get taken care of. I am a teacher so I had it done over the summer and did not have to tell anyone anything.

I also work in a small office. I told them everything. They have been so good to give me time to work on myself during the past year. Besides, the changes have been so dramatic that there is no doubt what I have been up to!

I work in a corporate office. Didn't tell any details. Just said I had to have another surgery. They didn't ask and I didn't tell. I knew my boss knew what it was just because we had known each other for years. The backlash was tough. He didn't agree that I should take time off for anything like that. But afterward he did say I looked awesome, which is true. LOL! When would we ever have said that before? Now I am described as "Hot!". hahahahaha so who cares if they know what I did. We do these things for ourselves because we are finally taking care of ourselves and not everyone else.
