I had pre op consults with my surgeon.
I had my final meeting with him 2 days before surgery (they checked heart rate, blood pressure, general health).
I was given my at-home bandages, ointment, preseciptions for pain meds, antibiotic, etc.
Day before surgery I was encouraged to eat a whole fresh pineapple (helps with bruising) and I just did the best I could with my band.
Morning of surgery I dressed in baggy sweat pants, button up shirt and slip on shoes. My husband drove me to the surgery center and I did some paperwork.
Taken back and prepped. I was gowned, blood pressure, IV started.
My surgeon came in and did his markings.
My anesthesiologist came in and talked with me and promised to take good care of me.
I kissed my husband and was wheeled away.
I remember getting into the OR and being asked my name and procedure.
My doctor's nurse took my hand and smiled and said, "I am going to take really good care of you" ...... The next thing I remember is waking up in Recovery and seeing my husband.
I stayed for a while and then got up, got help getting dressed and went home.
I had a pillow to put between myself and the seatbelt and hold on to for the ride home.
About 40 minutes later I was home and being helped to my recliner.
I had a pain pump but. O drains (my surgeon did a hip to hip incision, skin removal, muscle tightening, mons lift ... And he closes with post-tension suturing which eliminates the need for drains).
I slept for a few hours and then my husband helped me up to use the bathroom.
The next day at 1pm, I had an office appointment to change my dressing and check my wounds.
I got to see a flat tummy for the first time and i cried, I was so happy!!
I was allowed to go home and shower.
I spent the next 2 days at home resting, knitting, walking around and playing on the computer.
After that, I was off pain meds except to sleep and got out of the house each days little bit.
After 10 days I was able to go back to work.
