Travelling after arm lift
Hello everyone.
I would like to have feedback from anyone who has had an armlift and draw on their personal experience and get their opinion about travelling post surgery. How long after an armlift would you say you would feel heeled enough to travel? I am planning to go to Cuba late January or early February next year and wondered what would you recommend as the lastest date to have an armlift. I am not worried about scars showing, just worried more about the healing and how soon I would feel ok to travel. Would I be better to wait until after the trip to have the surgery, or would getting it done in Oct or Nov sound ok?
Thank you and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Take care...Linda

I think it depends on what activities you're planning on while you're in Cuba. If you're just going to relax I'd give yourself at least 3 to 4 weeks. If you're planning any activities that requires using your arms I'd say at least 6 to 8 weeks. I did a quick trip 2 weeks after my surgery but I had someone to help with the baggage, etc.

Linda,
I had my brachioplasty and a breast lift at the same time. Had them done on a Thursday as an outpatient procedure.
I was home that afternoon and back to the doctors office the next day for a wound check (hubby drove me).
I was driving myself by Sunday.
The following Friday, 8 days post op, I drove myself 150 miles to visit family.
I used a little travel pillow to prop my arm.
You should be able to travel by 2 weeks out or so (I had no drains).
You should be able to lift beer and wine just fine!!!

Thanks for your input. I am happy to hear that lifting the beer and wine will be ok...that was my main concern of course...
I am leaning towards the November dates open for my surgery. I have just too much going on in October and even if done in November, I will have more than 2 months out before I take my trip.
Woo hoo...:)

I felt good after 2 weeks. Of course I was not doing anything strenuous then, but everyday activities were fine for me.

Thanks Laura,
I am retired, so I don't need to get back to work...I won't be doing anything strenuous myself after surgery, so I guess I will be fine to travel next winter if I get the surgery late October or November. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.
You look amazing by the way, congratulations and well done.
