I had a pani and hernia repair done end of August. I am feeling better but still hve drainage tubes in.. hopefully they will come out on Tues when i see the Dr.  I am a bit concerned and was hopeing someone would know or could give me some insight. Two days ago I started hurting around where my new belly button is. it feels like something is really pulling. I am taking it easy, kinda a step backwards since I had already begun to do normal household chorse but not lifting anything over 5lbs. My daughter seems to think i am pushing myself too fast.
Can anyone pls help me give me info on when i can do things again such as normal household chorses, bending without it hurting?? Just in general ..
I do admit i am a bit scared.
Thanks
Rose

It takes a long time to heal. If you had muscle tightening, you might really feal it in that area. I'm 9 months post op and still feel things pull in that area doing Pilates etc.

If you are afraid, pick up and phone your surgeon. That's what you paid for.  Hope you feel better soon.  Quit pushing and take it easy.  I didn't do housework for six weeks.

Housework can be like exercise!
Wait six weeks for sweeping and washing floor and changing beds.
Washing dishes or folding laundry already sitting in a basket MIGHT be okay.

Give you Dr a call and ask, but it could just be your belly button, numbing, is going away. Mine is the most sensitive part of me. Does it look OK?
Everyone is different as far as when you can bend without it hurting. I seem to heal fast, I can do almost anything without it hurting. I just get tired, faster. My Dr said not to do anything that makes your heart race, too much, for 6 weeks. In other words, no aerobic activity or strenuous activity. Also, she says, not to push yourself, too much. Take it easy. Give Dr a call, if nothing else, to make yourself feel better.
Good luck.

Don't be in a hurry to get the drains out if they produce more than 30cc in a day, it is much worse to have the fluid collect and wait for your body to try and absorb the fluid build up which can lead to needing to have to be asperated, which is more inconvenient than emptying the drain, and you are really uncomfortable, all of a sudden your smooth flatness turns into a waterbed. So down to reduce the amount of fluid going in the drains, they are your gauge. No chores for 6 weeks, even then slowly get back into them.

Good Luck,
Shelly
