I am having my surgery on Thursday 8/06. I am having a belt lipectomy and also a breast lift with augmentation. I am getting silicone implants 425cc mod plus Mentor brand. I am super nervous about the surgery as I have a low tolerance for pain. Is there anyone here that has had these two procedures at one time? and if not how was the pain with just one of them? I'm sure the stomach part is going to be a lot worse than the breasts. The surgeon told me that I will probably not even notice the pain in my breasts b/c the stomach will be my main amount of pain.

Also I was wondering if anyone can give me a list of things that i should get for after my surgery at home? I was wondering, how hard is it to get up and down for the toilet? I was thinking of getting a raised toilet seat for this.. any suggestions for you guys would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

I'm having surgery on Saturday and I hear ya I am a nervous wreck. Ugggghhhh. My ps is on top of the pain thing. In fact, I almost kissed my doctor when he told me he was going to leave my cathator in with my drains, and give me a pain pump. Wooohooooo!!!!! Now I won't put myself on fluid restriction.

There are a few things I have gathered for upcoming surgery (walker, rinseless shampoo/soap, clothes/nightgowns that zip in the front, guaze, qtips, hydrogen peroxide). Any other suggestions you get please pass on.

Good Luck!!!!

Shenna,
Congrats!!! I'm sure this will be a wonderful transformation for you after having lost all the weight. I would definetly get a raised toilet seat.  A shower chair is also helpful to aid in taking showers. You can often feel weak and dizzy and don't want to risk falling in the shower. When taking a shower you can make a necklace out of a shoe lace and use safety pins to clip the drain bags to the "necklace" .  This prevents you from having to worry about them when trying to shower. If you don't have a recliner to sleep in, pillows, pillows, pillows.... to help position yourself in bed. Also, stock up on protein drinks. It's important to the healing process and you probably won't feel like eating a lot. The drinks make it easy to keep the protien level up. You may want to purchase an over the counter stool softener to take for the first couple of days,  anethesia can cause constipation and that is not what you want to deal with. Don't wait to feel the pain before taking the pain meds. If the pain catches up with you, it can be hard to get a handle on.  So if the perscription says "Take every four hours" even if you don't feel the pain.....take it. Definetly have someone stay with you the first 72 hrs.    If I remember anything else, I'll let  you know.

My thoughts and prayers are with you for a straight forward , uncompicated surgery and speedy recovery.

Best of luck to Sheena and Sharon on your surgeries! The breasts are not really painful -- just really sore (just had mine done). But as was said before, stay ahead of the pain with your meds. Don't be a martyr. Keep everything very clean -- perhaps get bed pads that you change 1-2 times a day. You can use doggie pads if they are cheaper (someone else posted a video on here of supplies, and she mentioned that as an idea -- I thought it was a great one). Most important -- clean clean clean -- avoid infection. Don't stretch the back skin by bending too much after the belt lipectomy. For the drains, I put them in a little shoulder pouch so they wouldn't get pulled when I went out.

Eventually, all the pain will go away, all will heal, and you will love it!

You ladies are lucky.....I'm not allowed to shower until my drains are out. Cant imagine what my hair will be like after a week or two but its all worth it, right???? Ironically my surgery is on my anniversary. This might test that for better or worse theory. Lol

Did you guys rent the shower chair/raised toilet seat.? I bought some Moo/Moo type nightgowns with pockets in the front. I'm cutting the inside of the pocket so I can put my drains in there.

I love this site and the ideas from all the great people here.

I go to get my hair washed and blow-dried a few times after surgery -- pamper yourself a little!

I bought the shower chair and toilet seat at walmart ~ 40 $ each. Sold them afterwards.

Good luck today.  My favorite two items were my raised toilet seat and my lift recliner.  I also borrowed a walker from a friend that help me move around safely for the first 4-5 days.
