4 years ago I had my RNY surgery. I left the hospital off my diabetes meds. My cholesterol levels stabilized and I no longer had high blood pressure. Lost all the weight I was projected to lose. Health was all good!

Since surgery I had plastics- tummy tuck and new boobs 9 months ago- this is where I had issues. I became severely dehydrated causing my bowels to become blocked had to get it surgically unblocked. Then I had severe blood clots- one leg swelled to 4 times as my other one. I was in the hospital basically for 2 holidays last year I lost 31 additional pounds. I had to learn to eat all over again as for the bowel blockage I was on a feeding tube for 2 weeks.      Now I eat what I want but only small amounts. My weight has stabilized somewhat to normal range. I wear a size 2/4 now. Mostly 4 unless its jeans and those are a 4/6 as my thighs are still pretty meaty.
So if I had to do it all over again. Yes to the surgery. No to the plastics. I like the flat tummy sure but I get super bloated and I still have digestive issues due to the bowel blockage. And my boobs are just ok. They are not spectacular!

Live and learn and happy anniversary to me!!!

I'm glad you are feeling better and that you want to warn us of the good and bad but every individual has to decide for themselves thepros and cons; benefits and risks involved.
I never lost all my weight or got to any goal but the rashes under my hanging belly and under my boobs were unbearable!
And I have Woind healing issues... Last year my TT I had dehiscence and a slough that turned to gangrene and was treated with debridement and WoundVac for almost seven weeks. I had Breast Lift 30/07 and all was well until three weeks ago where my breasts are slowly dehiscence from surface slough to fibrin to dehiscence which more and more opening.
Tomorrow I am off to hospital clinic three hours away. I live in Israel and Sunsay is a regular day. I'm concerned of course but I am still happy with my flat tummy and perky boobs. And if I can convince the PS and my HMO to do my thighs-I will fo them as soon as my PS agrees and the hospital can put me on the roster. I have not paid for any of my surgeries and I live off of Disability.
I don't regret anything except for how I let myself get fat to begin with although I was fat a a child.
You are entitled and should express your viewpoint and experiences!
I hope you have no more health issues.

Would you care to share your surgeon and what made these complications happen? I'm in TN also and on the way to plastics. Thanks and so sorry you have had these issues.

My post wasn't meant to be anti-plastic surgery. It is simply an account of my life since surgery and plastic surgery is included.

In reflection I would say yes to wls surgery and no to plastics.

What happened to me is unusual. It all happened post surgery and is not the fault of my surgeon. I in no way blame the surgeon. I became dehydrated when I was unable to eat or drink in the days following the surgeries. I went to the ER for dehydration. They kept me overnight and sent me home before I was fully rehydrated. So of course I continued to dehydrate and when that happens the body shuts down.

My surgeon was fabulous. She or her staff visited me everyday that I was hospitalized with the bowel blockage ANd the blood clots.    I was just sharing my story. Not trying to deter folks from plastic surgery.

I though I understood that from your post and I hope I did not offend you in any way in my comment. Please forgive if I inadvertently did so.

Thanks for sharing your story!! We all need to know the good the bad and the ugly in order to determine what risks we are willing to take. No one has a guarantee of the perfect outcome.
