please chime in
I am almost 2 years out from having the vsg and I have lost my ass and boobs!
I am now looking into plastics and was wondering if you y'all would know if Mexico is cheaper than
USA and if you know what insurance will cover or might cover close to Oregon or Cali, I'm from Oregon. AND if you can tell me how much these 2 procedures would be "breast Aug, and butt
lift, or butt augments, any help would be appreciated.
And congrats to all of you!!

From the posts I've seen on here, it appears you can get a good deal in Mexico, but you MUST do your homework to get a good, quality doctor. I'm sure some of the folks that went to Mexico can provide some answers.
No one can tell you if your insurance will cover reconstructive plastics....even if they have the same company. Employers choose the coverage provided in their plans. Call your insurance company and ask them if they cover it. Then, ask them to send you the written documentation for requirements. Mine does cover it, but my panni does not hang the required 3+ inches so I have to pay for my own (LBL and possibly BL Nov 9th).
Prices are all over the board, depending on whether it is done in a hospital or a surgical center (cheaper) and where in the U.S. you are having it done.
Best of luck to you!

Hi Ms. Lisa
I hate to be a nay-sayer, but I am doubtful about insurance paying for the procedures you mention, as they are not really anything but asthetic. That doesn't mean its not worth it to try and try again!
As for going out of the country: I thought about doing that before my first plastic surgery in 2007. Then, after my LBL, which I did here in NY, I had complications and realized I was lucky to have done it here where I could get continued care from my doctors. I had also heard of others having trouble outside of the country. I just didn't think it was worth it. There are many others on this board who are happy having gone out of the country, so everyone has a different opinion, story or experience.
As for price: I just had breast implants along with my upper back lift. My doctor was very reasonable, but he has done all my other work, so I'm sure he gave me a great break. I've heard of a wide range of prices for the same procedure. You have to shop around, but of course only shop the ones that you know are good at what they do.
I also have absoluately NO BUTT left. But my new 2-week-old boobs are excellent so far!
Good luck in your search.
Marla

I have had 3 surgeries in Mexico with Dr Sauceda. The price is absolutely much lower!
I am an advocate of safe surgeries. You can go to Mexico and get a better price, but what is much more important is getting a safe procedure. There are other doctors there who are not known for being as safe with their patients. My surgeon makes his patients safety his first priority. He picks you up at the airport. Drives you to the Hampton Inn, that is within a few miles of the hospital where you'll have your surgery. If your surgery costs $7K or more, he pays for your Hotel stay - for the entire time you are there, he insists you stay 12 to 14 days depending upon your procedure. He does this because for him, staying the 12 days and being in a safe Hotel with his RN visiting every morning is not negotiable. He wouldn't leave the aftercare up to you - often times doctors do this - encouraging you to stay at an afterare recovery center at your cost - when people are trying to afford surgery, they may not understand the importance of staying in a safe place. Dr Sauceda's package is all inclusive, he also pays for your airfare up to $600.00 if your surgery cost is $7K or more. When you combine procedures the prices go down. He also uses an epidural - this is something that made choosing him a no-brainer. I hate being intubated and having a general just isn't something I would choose, if I had another option. Another good thing about Dr S is that he has you stay in the hospital with 24 hour nursing care until you are medically stable to move to the hotel. As mentioned, his RN visits every morning, helps you shower, get you back into your garment and checks your incisions as she dresses them. He will visit you each afternoon/evening after he is done with surgery. These were all things that made me feel I had made a great decision.
There are some reasonable places in the states, also. You can check into some of the residency programs.
Having a good result is one thing, being safe and not having lifelong residual problems due to unsafe care is something that can be avoided if you make a good choice in your surgeon.
