How long did you stay in the hospital after lbl?

I'm not having a lbl, but am, too, staying overnight. My PS said if I am not ready to leave for whatever reason,  I will stay another night. (trust me I will not be there 2 days, HATE the hospital, LOL) I took pillows before and the 40 minute drive home wasn't too bad. I will have a pain pump in this time for 3 days. I seem to remember sorta being "out of it" due to meds. You'll do fine. Take care and let us know how it goes, my surgery is the 30th!!

I had LBL with thigh lift and stayed one night.  I had a 2 and a 1/2 hour trip home.  I took meds before I left.  The one things my PS made sure of was that we stopped and I went for a little walk after about 45 minutes.  That kept me moving and broke up the amount of time in one position.  I took a couple of ice packs from the hospital and of course meds prior to leaving.  Also try to fill your scripts early so you will have your next pain med dose ready on time.  The higher vehicle is great for a LBL, but if you are having a inner thigh lift at the same time I was not able to bend my knees in order to get in an SUV.  I used my Hyundi elantra and a walker to help me get out.  Also, pack pillows for comfort.

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

This is one of my reasons I went with the surgeon I did.  The doctors in my area, all did the LBL as an outpatient procedure and then a night at an aftercare center that would cost me a lot of extra money.  My doctor kept me in the hospital for 3 nights and then I had my facelift done and stayed another 3 nights.  I was in the hospital for a total of 6 nights.  I feared having to get into the car and have my daughter drive me home.  I also live upstairs and would have to climb a flight just to get into my home.

I will get my pain meds at my mark up appt the night before surgery.

I have heard many people mention a walker. My husband had knee replacement surgery but we got rid of his walker after that. I plan to use a cane.

Hadn't thought about not being able to bend my knees after medial thigh lift.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts. My PS doesn't want me staying the extra night at the hospital - too much chance of infection. If I have a private room, I may stay the extra night. I am trying to find out about a private room but the hospital is very evasive about it. THey say if I request it, I have to pay the private room rate. I asked waht that rate is but they didn't seem to know.

This time of year, the hopital (on Cape Cod) tends to be at capacity.

Some things I've gathered based on other's experience:

A walker
A raised toilet seat
Shower seat

Still gotta get one of those grabber claw thingees so if I drop something, I can pick it up!

And I'm still searching for a rental recliner that raises up-if I can't find one, I'll be in my regular recliner.

I decided on a surgeon that would keep me in the clinic for five nights. I had my body work on Friday, facelift on Monday nd went to the hotel on Wednesday where I stayed until the following Wednesday. I had daily nursing care at the hotel, as well as a daily visit from my surgeon.

I found that the only equipment necessary was a shower chair and a step stool, both to get into the SUV and then to get into bed.  I practiced sitting on the potty and getting up without help from my thighs or arms for so long that it was relatively easy post op.

I had all my body done on Thur, face & neck lift on Monday and went to the hotel on Wed... basically 7 nights in the clinic with 24/7 nursing care.  Then a week at the hotel with daily visits by Dr Sauceda and his nurse Paty.  I did take 3 pain pills on my return from Monterrey to California.

I had a lbl and breast augmentation and lift.  I was released same day and stayed in a hotel down the street.  My hubby drove me home next morning and I have a 1 1/2 ride.  Do not remember anything.  Do not even remember hotel room.  Everything was good.  My doctor told me not to get walker, toilet seat etc.,  he said the more you use your muscles the better you will be.  He did recommend sleeping in a recliner for two weeks which I did.  I had no issues.  Was driving after a week and back to work after two.  I think his advice worked for me.  I can't believe how well I did.  I was so worried because had a bad experience with gastric by pass surgery but everything went great with plastics.  Good luck to you.
