Hi...I was wondering if anyone had surgery in a "surgical suite" in the doctors office??? I'm schedule for this Wednesday August 8th. I'm having a TT...in the surgical suite. I was surpose to have it done in June but my Ptt blood levels were a concern of the doctor. Had numerous blood test and I guess "my normal" is slightly elevated. I'm just a little nervous that it's not done in a hospital. I went for 3 opinions...and all 3 would be done in a surgical suite in the doctors office.
All the pictures that I've seen of the members here....you all look amazing...
Thank you for any input :)

My surgery is scheduled for September 8th...on a Saturday. My doctor is doing my surgery on that date so I don't have to wait till the end of October. The only down side is that hospitals don't do "elective" procedures on the weekend. I have to go to surgery center, or wait. I'm growing impatient so I am going with it. Just thankful my insurance approved it, and will be thankful for whatever they cover.
Most of the time surgery centers are more cost effective than the hospital. Are you going through insurance or totally out of pocket? If cash....surgery center is your best bet. There won't be any surprise cost becuase your quote includes everything. If through insuracne it really depends on whether your surgery center is in or out of network, if you have to spend the night, etc.
I have had other procedures done at surgery centers and everything was fine. You will do great!!! You must be so excited. I am super excited for you. ;-)

I had my surgery, LBL with anchor cut, BA etc. at my surgeons surgical suite. It was cheaper. I had super great care, one nurse for 2 patiens and then over night was one on one. It was a great experience. I will use the surgical suite again when I have a revision soone. I did ask about their protocol in the event of an emergency, which he has never had at his surgical suite.

You're right Kim about the germs at the hospital..... Trying to keep my mind busy today...getting a little nervous about tomorrow...I go back to see him after the TT on Friday and Monday.....I've had numerous surgeries c-section, appendectomy, gallbladder, hernia, lapband, (1)ovary and (1)fallopian tube, hysterectomy, vein stripping in one leg... all done in the hospital....I'll be glad when it's over...
I spent a lot of time researching all the procedures and found a surgical center was the best option for me and the number of procedures I was having done at once. The actual TT procedure is procedure routinely done in a board certified plastic surgeons office with your choice of sedation. (its not that bloody and no major organs are cut).
I spoke with my doc about secondary infection concerns with having procedures in his office, the hospital or a surgery center. I think these types of questions should be asked so you could be sure you understand the risk.
Good Luck,
shelly
