Favorite compression garment brand/style for lower body?

My surgeon said that I can start to incorporate "Spanx" (general term for all brands of shapewear) into my compression garment rotation in a week or so, so I'd like to go ahead and buy a few of those now. I'm looking for both ab (extended TT) and thigh support.
For those who have had LBL or TT/thighs, what brands and styles have you found best early on in your recovery process for daily wear?
I'm concerned that any garments I get have enough compression. (I know Spanx, for instance, has several levels of support, and I don't think the lower level would be enough.)
Also, most of the ones with thigh support only go to "mid-thigh." my incisions go down to my knees, so will that be a problem, either for swelling or for rubbing of the band on incisions?
And, what do you recommend size-wise? Order true to my size before surgery, or a bit smaller to maximize compression?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Laura

My inciscions go down and through the knee. My PS got a girdle that went to mid calf. I recommend going with a long leg. The mid calf hiked up to just below the knee and acted like a tourniquet and within a week I was in so much knee pain. The knees turned black/blue and my calves blew up from lack of return fluid. I could not wear them anymore. The same day I quit wearing them my calves returned to normal.
Now I am wearing a pair of exercise compression pants that I had from before, they are working fine for now.
Measure and call the company and ask them how to project size.

They are working well mid thigh and down through knee. It is a bit loose around upper thigh, but I am very slender in that area.
Very comfortable.

I had an extended tummy tuck and medial thigh lift two weeks ago and I just purchased two pairs of Flexees that are pretty comfortable. I got the kind that comes up high on the abdomen and ends just above the knee and I think the compression level is called "ultimate". I found them at Kohls and they were pretty reasonable (30 dollars, on sale).
I am pretty short (5'2), so these work for me, but I think a taller person might find the legs too short. Sizing is tricky. I got a large, which fits well for most of the day, and extra large for nights when I am blown up like a tick. You definitely don't want the thighs too tight.

I think someone suggested a full leg length, which may be a wise move (though I can't imagine it would be too comfortable). As for brands, I was told that Walmart puts out a version that is very good and very inexpensive. It might be worth looking into. I figure I'll need 3-4 garments to get me through without having to do laundry every day.
Take a look at the Veronique website, I bought 2 of the waist to ankle, it zips down to almost the knee so it is easier to get on.
