Has anyone gotten a plastics consult before they were in maintenance?

I'm about 6 lbs from my goal, although I have a feeling I might be happier with more like another 20 lbs gone and will probably try to keep losing past the official goal. I'm really tempted to go see a plastic surgeon now just to get any idea of what he thinks I'll need done and how much it might cost...even though I couldn't do it until fall 2013 probably.

Its probably just my impatience speaking to want to go see someone now. I guess I want him to be able to predict how much/what my loose skin will end up looking like if I take off more weight. Has anyone done this and found it helpful?

Ive had a couple consults and have already scheduled my PS way before I can even dream of maintenance (im secretly hoping I'll just lose 50 lbs of skin - NOT!).

I dont think it hurts to start now - by the time you meet a few surgeons, think about what you want to have done, save some money, and schedule your surgery - you'll have the last 6 lbs gone and into maintenance for sure :)

Hi!

I just had a face and neck lift a month ago.  My PS said at my follow up a couple of weeks ago that he could do the remaining work (BL, extended tummy tuck, upper body lift) with good results whenever I want from my current weight, and I'm about 10 lbs. from goal.  My PS was Jason Leedy, btw, and I am VERY happy with the results from the face and neck lift.  I think Dr. Ben-Meir suggests waiting until 12-18 months out (I'm nearly there), so my plan is to have the remaining work done this winter when the weather's bad - won't want to go running in the snow anyhow!

BTW, this was also consistent with what I heard from the other PS's with whom I consulted.  Seems like once you're that close it probably isn't a big deal.

No harm in window shopping!

Many PS do want you to be in maintenance for a while before surgery.

I'm not yet to maintenance but since I have tons of excess skin I have started talking with plastic surgeons in my area.  One to know what my options are and what things might cost.  Because it will take time for me to get that kind of money set aside.
