I am getting a panniculectomy and chest reduction next Thursday.  What type of clothing should I take to come home in.  Strechy shorts and T-shirt, button up shirt.  I am guessing jeans would be a llittle uncomfortable.

Hey Joe!
Your letter Appeal tips were great and I hope others take advantage of your info.
You will prob have a binder and feel real tight so loose is what you need.
Up your Protein now and after your PS.
If you want a pen-pal send ne a pm.
Good luck with everything.

I brought sweat pants and loose tshirt. I didn't bother with button up.

Button up Camp shirt. Loose fitting. The bottoms just a really baggy pair
of shorts. Easy to slip on shoes. Laces ok. But something the nurse can
put on you easy.

Good luck

Hey Joe,

When my friend Cash had his surgery ( Upper body lift & some abdominal work)  he wore the button up shirts.
He said it prevented him from having to lift his arms when trying to get dressed or undressed.
Quite benificial, just unbutton and it comes right off and easy to slide on.
For pants, he wore shorts with a waist band that could be loosened or tightend with a string.
Flip flops for shoes, no bending to get on or off.

Sounds smart, probably what I will do.

Spot on with the short and t-shirt. Find out what kind of abdominal binder you get, I bought an extra one to have around clean which was really nice. Maybe get a fanny pack for your drains when at some point you want to go out in public they work nice to hide them. Get a couple compression shirts for at some point when you start to wean yourself off the binders a little they are nice to have.

You have some restriction when it comes to eating from all the swelling you'll have plus wearing binders. Get some protein shakes to have around they saved my life I could only eat about a 1/3 like I could before my plastics.

Good luck

anything that is very lose and very comfy!  I wore PJ's to the hospital and came home in them.  I literally just wore a very lose nightshirt for the first week.  Jeans are totally out!  I didn't wear jeans for a very long time post op.  I lived in yoga pants after that first week.

good luck to you

I wore a "beater" t-shirt, and because my surgery was in August, and it was warm, it worked out perfect. Just as above stated, wear things very loose and comfy! Good luck!
