BL/TT July 30! Tips and suggestions plz:)
Welcome to the forum. I'm six weeks out from an extended tummy tuck, and had a full facelift in March. Recovery from both surgeries was MUCH easier than I ever imagined it would be. I got around just fine after my tummy tuck. No real pain at all. Pain control is so much better these days than it used to be.
I don't think I really had any questions for my surgeon because she has a nurse that comes in and explains everything that will happen just before the doctor comes in to do her part of the consultation. They also gave me a folder with lots of recovery information. My doctor did not allow shower until the tubes were out, and it was a pain not showering for almost three weeks. No baths for six weeks, and that almost killed me (I am going to take a bath tomorrow night for the first time since surgery, and I can't wait!).
Just get in plenty of protein before and after surgery, and you should be just fine. Others will post tips for you soon, I'm sure. Good luck with your surgery, and I hope it goes as well for you as it did for me.

Hi Brenna
Congrats on reaching goal -- I'm finally there as well.
I had a breast reduction in 1984! I understand it is very different now. I went from an F cup to a B and was very happy at the time (although I expected to be a C cup and he made me a B -- he said there were a lot of cysts -- whatever). I was 200 lbs at the time -- this was waaaaaaaayyyy before a major weight gain to 330 by 2005 pre-RNY and down to my now under 150 weight, where I am now just skin hanging where my breasts should be, and I'm scheduled for implants on August 7th. Ironic, huh? I thinking of doing a revision of a butt and thigh lift at the same time as the breast implant and back lift, so we're kind of in a similar boat. I'm discussing it with my doctor on Monday. I need to see what he says regarding how stressful the back stuff will be, as it is a bit different because there is pulling in the back when you sit down (I had trouble with the back the first time -- it opened up), which is not the case with the TT in the front.
The breast reduction even in 1984 was not very painful. No muscle was involved. By the time I had it done they were NOT detaching the nipple, and I was able to breastfeed my son 11 years later at age 41! The only thing I didn't like was that he put my nipples too high, so I had trouble getting sexy bras because my nipples were always over the top of the bras. The only good thing about that NOW 28 years later is that when I do the implants I do NOT need any lift and I believe if he puts the implants under the muscle they will be perfect. And this time I DON'T want to be bigger than a B.
As for the TT, I had a LBL, which involved muscle tightening of the stomach area and lifting the back at the same time, and even THAT was not as painful as I expected even with the muscle tightening. So the TT being only skin in front, in THINK, should be pretty easy pain-wise. I had my arms done at the same time as the LBL, and the arms were the worst part.
I hope some of my experience helps you with your upcoming surgery.

I had brachioplasty and extended tt 7 wks ago, then butt lift and breast lift/augmentation the day before yesterday. They will explain everything basically. The pain was not that bad honestly, and pain pills work great. For the tummy it was so numb it didn't hurt much. My arms didn't hurt at all, they were uncomfortable later on when stitches would poke out. I would just ask how many drains, and what kind of pain pills. For speedy recovery, lots of protein. Best of luck!
I had lower body lift and breast augmentation and lift almost 6 weeks ago. My recovery was awesome....a lot better than expected. Pills worked when needed. Follow drs orders, plenty of protien and rest. As some of the others said the worst part was not showering/bathing. I was out of work for 2 weeks. If I could do it over I would stay home a little longer...may 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. Good luck and keep us posted.
I am gonna be honest..it was a very tough week for me! I had an extended tummy tuck and full back lipo. I hurt alot! But it was totally worth it and I would do it again in a minute. I just want you to be prepared just in case you do hurt...the pain meds work well (don't forget to take your stool softeners!) and each day gets alot better but the first 5 days were very tough for me. My husband was home with me for the first 5 days and that was a hugh help. Make sure you have some protein drinks on hand because you just won't feel like eating..or atleast I didn't and you need that protein to heal.
I am not trying to be a downer here...I just want to be honest about my experience. But again, I would do it all over again in a minute! IN fact, I wish that I could do more!
best of luck to you!!

Hello,
I am currently interviewing cosmetic surgeons in my area. Were you able to have insurance cover any part of your extended tummy tuck? I just got my third quote and they are all around $8500 plus $4,000-5,000 for the hospital.
Please let me know your thoughts...kinda down right now..after losing all this weight I would have thought insurance would have helped some...
