What was your Experience like with Dr. Sauceda?

I'm looking into plastic surgeons and I cam accross Dr. Sauceda. So far from what I have read he seems like a great plastic surgeon. I have a few questions about your experience with him and his facility.

1) How long did you stay in his facility?

2) On scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the least and 10 being the most. How much do you think he cared about your recovery?

3) Were there any abnormal complications with your surgery?

4) Would you go back to him over anyone else?

5) Do you think the cost of your surgery was fair compared to the quality of the service?

6) How long ago did you have plastic surgery with him?

7) When you started looking into the procedure about how far out was your surgery date scheduled for?

8) How would you rate the cleanliness of the facility?

9) After the surgery did he have you under watch for a 24 hour period? How long did you stay in the facility?

10) Was there anything you didn't like about your experience?

I hope this doesn't seem like too many questions. I am trying to get as much info on him as I can. If there is any kind of tips you can give me when it comes to looking into this plastic surgeon.

My story starts here:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/Dr_Sauceda_Patients/discussion/page,68/

1. I was in Monterrey for 2 weeks, 1 week in the 24/7 clinic and 1 week at the Hampton Inn with visits from Paty, Dr Sauceda's nurse who comes daily and Dr Sauceda.
2.  10, I'm going back the end of Jan for an UBL, Dr S said I needed one, but couldn't see my back so declined... now I don't like all the loose skin on my upper back.
3.  None
4.  See #2
5.  Completely.  I wanted 24/7 care, not sent home the same day of surgery with  a pain pump.
6.  18mo
7.  Mostly, it's whatever date(s) you want.  Talk about dates and make your reservation.  Can be as soon as 2 weeks... Do you have a passport?  Dr S will be off 1/2 of Aug and most of Sept.  See the surgery schedule at the top of the stickys.  Those are only the surgeries from OH folks that tell us.
8.  I had no problems with the clinic or the hotel.
9.  I had my body surgeries on Thur, and face & neck lift on Monday and went to the hotel on Wed, flew out the next Wed morning.
10.  Should have had the UBL at the same time.

Click on Dr Sauceda in my siggy line and come read about the folks that are currently in Monterrey.

I am actually just researching for a future time. I still have a bit of weight to go but I have to start saving money. I know getting plastic surgery done in America isn't going to happen (it is way to expensive to get anything done here.) I just want to find a great surgeon and I looked some things up on a couple websites and he seems awesome. I just want to make absolute sure that he is everything, everyone says he is.

I read on a couple posts here that if you spend over 7000 you get discounts is that still going to your knowledge?

As you combine procedures, if you go over 7k, he'll pay for up to 600 of your airfare and for your hotel stay.

Sweet because otherwise its going to be pretty expensive even though it cost less.

Once you are over 7k, everything is inclusive except for your food at the hotel.  The clinic, the Dr, nursing, the 2 sets of garments...

No surprise bills.  It really isa sweet deal.

Hi Chris...
I saw Dr. S in NYC last year when he was doing consults at the hotel....  I should have the time and money by when I finish with grad school in February....  do you think it's too soon to start contacting him to make a plan..  (I KNOW you don't work for him...but you're so darn knowledgeable, I had to ask!).....

Hi Mary,
His quote is good for 6mo or longer if you go ahead and book your flight and get your surgery date.  I'm going back late in Jan for my UBL.  I just added one person to the surgery schedule for 2/4/13!

Thanks, I've been around his group for over 2 yrs when I started researching.   Hoping the next patient reunion and consults will be the end of June in Orlando.

Hi sophieclair,

I don't post often, but I just couldn't pass this one up.

1) How long did you stay in his facility?

I was originally scheduled for three days in the clinic and seven days at a local hotel (The Hampton Inn - Galerias). I chose to stay an extra week at the hotel long before my surgery because I live in the middle of nowhere and any complication would have been far more expensive here than there.

2) On scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the least and 10 being the most. How much do you think he cared about your recovery?

That would be an 11. You just have to meet the guy to understand. He is not an American doctor. He did not have his heart surgically replaced with a bank vault when he got certified.

3) Were there any abnormal complications with your surgery?

No complications.

4) Would you go back to him over anyone else?

I would go back to him over everyone else and will do so in October.

5) Do you think the cost of your surgery was fair compared to the quality of the service?

Comparing apples to apples, I would have paid at least $24,000 for the same quality of care in the US that I received in Monterrey for $7200. "Fair" is for philosophers to decide.

6) How long ago did you have plastic surgery with him?

February 2, 2012.

7) When you started looking into the procedure about how far out was your surgery date scheduled for?

About four months.

8) How would you rate the cleanliness of the facility?

The way he does things (bombards his patients with antibiotics), he could probably do surgery in a sewage treatment facility and have everything work out fine. OK... so that is a bit of an exaggeration. To be honest, I didn't inspect the OR very closely, I only remember getting washed down with an anti-septic and noticing the hideous pale green that the walls were painted. I thought that a nice blue or white would have been better. (OK..., focus, focus, focus) The clinic is an outpatient surgical facility owned and operated by a JCI certified private hospital (that says everything you need to know right there).

9) After the surgery did he have you under watch for a 24 hour period? How long did you stay in the facility?

As I said above, I was originally scheduled for three days (72 hours) of 24-hour care in the clinic after my surgery. However, because I was a fitness patient, not a bariatric patient, my body was far better prepared for the trauma and I was released from the clinic after only 48 hours of care.

10) Was there anything you didn't like about your experience?

Yes, the chef in the clinic did not give me the option of having tacos for dinner. I like tacos. Nor did he have any of the big cookies that everyone before me had raved about. I'm not kidding, That really was the low point. I'll admit that he did offer a really funky chicken burger sandwich that was very good. When I go back in October, I think that I'll pretend to be light-in-my-slippers (if you know what I mean), I think that might help with the chef ;).

I mean seriously, there are hundreds of us who have been his patients. The man even has his own fan club. How many American doctors can say that? You can read their/our stories at the group site. It's going to take weeks for you to go through all of the posts, but it's worth the time.

Thank you so much for responding. I'm also not a bariatric patient. I'm doing Weigh****chers and exercise but I still have a massive amount of weight to lose (150lbs to 160lbs.) I figured since I definitely have time I'd do my homework (since I am pretty much 100% sure that I will be successful. It is the easiest plan I have ever followed.) I figure I have about 2 to 3 years until I get plastic surgery.

Oh yes I laughed pretty hard when you mentioned the cookies. Also, the chef really didn't make tacos? Its Mexico land of the tacos (and salsa!)

Honestly, what I'm afraid of is getting a bad doctor who butchers me up into hamburger. I know there will be scarring but I definitely want to find a doctor who pays attention to details. Some of the tummy tucks/boobies I've seen are off center and just look a mess (not the doctors just other doctors that I have found.
