Reduction/Lift on the 23rd

I had no clue it was going to happen so quickly.  The doctor agreed with me that there was no way my insurance would pay for a reduction once I was done losing weight and as I would be out of pocket for one surgery anyway I mine as well be out of pain now and do implants later.

So as long as insurance approval goes through, which he doesn't think is an issue given the size of my breasts, I'll have my reduction and lift on the 23rd.

Question about exercise.  I exercise A LOT.  Like last week I ran 27 miles.  He thinks I'll need to take 2 weeks off of actually running but said I should be able to get back into low impact things (not to include the pool) after the first week.  Is that realistic?  With a good bra should I be able to be back to running in 2 weeks?  I'm in training and the idea of taking time off scares me poopless, but I know not being in pain while I"m running would be a REAL blessing.

I don't exercise and I'm waiting for a similar surgery but I was under the impression that we have to be real careful the first six weeks. I could be wrong and hopefully others who have had the procedure done will chime in.
Congrats on your weight-loss so far!

I had a breast reduction done about 18 years ago and I couldn't imaging exercising so soon after the surgery. Walking around and doing normal day to day stuff was doable (no lifting ) but I must have spent 3 weeks with an imaginary 2ft frame/cage around me so as not to knock or jolt my chest at all. It hurt like a bi*ch. Things may be more advanced now or less invassive. They took about 5lbs off each boob. I went from a G/H cup to a small B and was so grateful. I was back up to a DD before wls but am back down to a C cup now.

Oh man, you will not want to be running 2 weeks after a breast surgery. I applaud your athletic dedication but it ain't gonna happen. You can do some gentle walking, sure. Go around the block a few times at a leisurely pace. But anything that gets your heart really pumping will put you at risk for bleeding and hematomas. I overdid it at 2 weeks post-op (I scrubbed my bathtub) and bled in both breasts, there are pictures of the horrendous bruising in my photo album. One whole breast was black and blue. Even if you FEEL capable of doing it, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

I think you could probably run at 4 weeks post-op if you got an awesome bra that held those puppies firmly in place. It's really hard laying low for so long when you're used to working out all the time. You will feel itchy and restless and bored. But in order to achieve your best body, you can find a way to make it work. It's only a month.
