Interesting.   I can get the same procedure at Central Maine Medical Center for just about the same price (11K) complete, tests, anesthesiologist,, everything, as opposed to 7 days in his "resort" and a price of 10.6k.  In Maine,  It is a same day surgery, and it is 20 miles from my house.  If your insurance will pay for a panneculty (sic) they take $3300 off the price, so it would only be about $7500!  I would do some serious research.   There are an awful lot of shills on this board,  Call CMMC, they will be glad to talk to you!

Fred, the "shills" you are talking about are patients of Dr. Sauceda who generously share their experiences and pictures with others who are looking for a plastic surgeon who is very skilled in working with the thin, stretched-out skin of WLS patients, in addition to being affordable for people who often require multiple surgeries. Furthermore, by not using general anesthesia, he is able to do several procedures at once, thus requiring only one recovery period. Also, he provides almost two weeks of daily nurse care, which would be cost-prohibitive for most people.

It may seem like we are "shills," since we are all so enthusiastic about our experiences with Dr. Saucda. But, just like those of us who have had a life-changing experience with WLS and want to share it with other people who are struggling with obesity, Dr. Sauceda's patients want to share the life-changing experience we have had because of their wonderful expertise in PS for WLS patients.

It doesn't sound like you have had surgery at CMMC, but perhaps I am wrong. If you have, please share more about your experience. Sharing personal experiences is the best way we can help each other make informed decisions.

BTW, my experience (whi*****luded LBL, BL/BA, arm lift and full thigh lift) cost half of what those procedures would cost me locally. And by going local, I would not have been able to find a surgeon with as much experience with WLS patients.

I had my gastric bypass there at Central Maine Medical
Center in 2009.  They have received the coveted"certificate of excellance" from the American Bariatric Society.  I had been researching medical tourism for a tummy tuck and a face  lift.  Other than India and Costa Rica, all of the prices  were about the same, and Central MaineMedical Center's prices were less than any of the other if you consider transportation.  They do both prodedures on the same day, you go home that night, and the price for BOTH procedured is 11k total, including anesthesia and allof the other little costs that really add up.  If your insurance will pay for a pannuculity(sic) they will take$3300  off, making it about 7500.  That is for BOTH procedures. By the way, they do specialize in Bariatric patients, and you don't need a passport.  Of course, all of their surgeons  are trained in US medical schools and US hospitals. That means something.  Don't hurt to give them a call.  They will quote prices for var.ious procedures over the phone.

Wait - what exactly is it supposed to mean that local surgeons are educated and trained in the US? I mean....my "local and US educated doctors" cant solve simple problems, could care less about me, aand are puppets for big HMO insurance companies.

Kaiser actually employes quite a large number of docs educated OUTSIDE of the US....any thoughts on why that might be??

Hi Nesha,

There seems to be very little information on Cuban doctors here as the majority of people posting here are American and not permitted to travel to Cuba under most cir****tances.

I would also like to suggest you check into Dr Sauceda. He’s in Monterrey, Mexico. His patients have a group on Obesity Help, you’re welcome to join (link below).  My suggestion is that read back through the previous posts. Many of his patients have been amazingly generous in sharing their experiences.

He has prices listed on his website (link below) but they are just a guideline. Combining procedures reduces the cost and if the total is over US$7000, he will credit you up to US$600 towards your airfare and include your hotel stay (after the first few days in his clinic).

I was very impressed when I had a consult with Dr Sauceda last month and have surgery scheduled with him later in the year. He is a very warm, generous man and a true artist when it comes to working on our saggy, deflated bodies.

To get an accurate price, send photos of yourself (& the areas you want addressed) in just your panties to [email protected]. It may take him a day or 2 to respond depending on his surgery schedule.

Good luck in your journey,

Tricia

I've read wonders of Dr.Sauceda to the extent that although I live in Israel and have no money for anything private (Israel is Socialised Medicine but there is also option of private for those who have money) I felt comfortable enough to write Dr.Sauceda. His answer was not very complete for in his honesty and correctness he wrote thst he cannot advise me on whst might be different than whst my PS here in Israel has told me. Dr.Sauceda took time out of his busy schedule for some unknown person (ME) who cannot even be his patient and was upfront with him to begin with and yet he chose to answer my concerns.
