Arnica and Bromelain
Reading my post op instructions in preparation for the surgery and noticed that they said that I may take Arnica and Bromelain to promote healing but that they also sell it. I'm wondering if that is some ploy for additional money or if those supplements really do work. I am planning on getting the silicone strips for the scars but not sure if I should get these supplements or not. Did anyone else use these? What were you your thoughts on them?
My surgeon recommend both, and I got them from his office. I was skeptical at first, but figured it couldn't hurt to try. They help a TON with bruising and swelling, I would recommend getting them. Although, if you'd rather not have one extra pill to take, you could always stock up on fresh pineapple (bromelain is an enzyme found in pineapple.)
I took massive amounts of homeopathic Arnica before ankle, gallbladder , VSG and plastics. I purchased them at a homeopathic pharmacy. I did take some Bromlain post plastics. I also ate fresh pineapple which is what Bromlain is derived from.
I am a huge believer in Arnica for healing. I took it right up until surgery. I had it brought to me in recovery during plastics. I never suffered from swelling and was up walking around the nex day following 13 hours of body surgery. Any correlation? I don't know. :)

My surgeon gave me a bottle of each and I just finished the Bromelain and have another 5 days left of the Arnica...I don't know if it helped, but I do know that I had minimal swelling in my arms, the swelling of my hands only lasted 3 days and was also minimal--I do have significant bruising and wonder if it would have been way worse without it??
