Stairs after a LBL & medial thigh lift

I am scheduled to have a LBL, BL, and medial thigh lift on August 10th.  My bedroom is on the second floor, and I am wondering if going up and down the stairs once a day will be a problem.  I was thinking of renting either a lift recliner or a hospital bed.  I would appreciate any thoughts on this matter.  Also, is sleeping in a regular bed in the immediate days following the surgery uncomfortable/possible?

I had lbl and breast aug & lift and I was told stairs were ok...dr recommended recliner for first two weeks.  That is what I did...I sleep in bed now but on my back...amazingly enough I go to sleep on back and wake up on back...my body just knows...

I hate sleeping on my back but I still hurt a little so I stay put.

Thank you.  I think I will look into renting a recliner vs a hospital bed.

My ETT and BL are going to be on 8/2.   on another site that focuses on platic surgery (TTT - awesome site).  a number of people said stairs shouldn't be an issue but also that a lift recliner is a must.   I am staying with my parents and bedroom is on 2nd floor.  I dont want to deal with stairs or take chances soam going to rent a recliner at least for two weeks.

I'm just trying to figure out where to rent one   8-/

Thanks Jennifer.  I called Rent A Center, and they rent lift recliners but for monthly not weekly increments.  I live in Massachusetts, and the price I was quoted over the phone was $108.  I will have to go visit the place, and see what they look like.

Can you please give me the address of the other site?

hey tracy,

be careful with Rent-a-center.  we called there and though they had one and I mean one style only.  with a few questions it was like they couldn't guarantee it would be availabe.  not sure as my mother was the one who spoke with them.

Yea I can give you the info for other site.  am at work so dont know particulars off top of my head.

Y dont you email me and I'll send over the info.  there actually is a kind of screening process where you have to state how you found out about the site.  I like that actually.

[email protected]

Definitely email me.  I think you will love the site.   lots of activity from MANY woman being very informative and supportive.  I'm so grateful I found it.
I'll keep an eye out for ya!

I had an LBL and BL/BA last November. I stayed in my mom's one story house and am really glad I did. I also had a p-style so I didn't have to sit on the toilet and a walker so I could use my arms when I did need to sit on the toilet. I slept in a chair with ottoman and lots of pillows. A hospital bed would have worked but they're hard. If you do recliner get a power one or one with lever. I found it very hard to swing my legs with the lbl, like you'd have to do getting in and out of bed.

I had full thigh lipo this week and I'm not sure I'm going to do my arm lift when I do my thigh lift. I really use my arms right now to get up and down. And stairs aren't so fun, and that's just with lipo, it would have been rough with incisions.

Also, your surgeon is ok with medial thigh and LBL at the same time? Mine wouldn't do it. She said she needed to build the foundation for my thigh with the outer thigh lift first. But then I need a full vertical thigh lift, a medial won't work on my elephant skin legs.

Anyway, take care. Make it as easy on yourself as you can. Check craigslist. I just got my dad an electric recliner that stands him up automatically (he had a spine fracture) and it was really reasonable.
