Just received a phone call yesterday morning from my plastic surgeon's office that my insurance (aetna) has approved for my pannectomy!!!!!!!!!  i am so excited!  I am about 2 months from my 5 year surgiversary date!  With a total weight loss of 141 pounds!!!!!!!!!  I am so excited!

Can someone tell me what to expect?  How does the pain compare to the WLS surgery pain??!!?!  Apprehensive about the pain component!

congrats!   You must be thrilled.  And you are very lucky that you are getting it paid for.  I had an extended TT and was totally self pay.  Be warned..it is a tough week.  The muscle tightening was very painful and I don't think with a pannectomy you have that ....so I am not sure.

I have no idea if this is possible.... but any chance you can pay the difference to upgrade to an extended tummy tuck.  IF at all possible..I Think it is worth it.  If not...be so glad that you get this covered.  I know most surgeons will let you pay the difference.

good luck

Patty

Thanks!  Well, $20,000 for my WLS was totally OOP.  I have irritation under my skin flap.  So with letters of medical necessity it's covered.....I am having the muscle tightening and they are going to sew the belly button back on.....not sure if that is the extended tummy tuck or not?!?!?!  LOL  I am so excited!

Congratulations!! I had a tummy tuck two weeks ago, and I have had a very easy recovery so far. Much easier than my two c-sections. Hard to compare to WLS. They are just so very different types of surgery. I guess the TT is easier because you don't have to do all the fasting and you don't have all the hormonal surges that cause depression. You'll be fine. It's not nearly as bad as I expected. Not even close. I have been amazed at how easy it is. My only complaint is that these stupid drains pull every time I move, so I can't wait to get those out.

Totally agree with justlooking, I just had my lower body lift and breast augmentation and lift on 11 jun....and it was way better than I ever expected.  I was so scared and so far knock on wood has been pretty easy....much easier than my two c-sections, hysterectomy and gastric by pass.....

I am very happy for you!

thank you everyone!  This will make my 12th abdominal surgery.  Most of them were for ovarian cysts and endometriosis.  So VERY tiny incisions.  My WLS surgery scars were also VERY tiny.  This will be the largest incision I have ever had.  I am apprehensive, only because I am trying to do this while being a mom to an almost 4 year old and a 2 year old!  I HOPE I CAN DO IT!
