Swelling again

I had ETT and Thigh lift surgery a little over 3 months ago and I've watched the swelling go down considerably.  I'm really happy with the way everything looks now but about 2-3 weeks ago the swelling started to get worse again.  That was about the same time that I started a new workout program.  During my last visit with my surgeon he strongly encouraged me to start exercising again but he didn't mention renewed swelling issues.

I remember reading some posts here months ago about swelling and exercise but now I can't find them.  Can anyone tell me how long it is likely to take my body to get used to exercising again and stop swelling so much?  I know it could take a long time for the swelling to go away entirely.  I'm just hoping to hear that once my body gets used to the new program it will stop retaining quite so much fluid.

Thanks,
Laurie

I don't exercise, but still swell up by night time... so I still wear my compression garment at night.  I'm 17mo out.  Swelling can last for a year.  That's why it's called Swell Hell... you don't know when it's going to happen or how long it's going to stay around.

Some people don't swell at all...

I had my TT on March 8th ---- and not much swelling at all  -- we are all so different!

I do find that exercise (elliptical or spin class or step class) is more comfortable if I wear my compression garment -- I just feel more supported and stable

My ETT surgeon gave me a list of supplements to take in an effort to reduce swelling. I was resistant to it at first, but after my first followup visit, I was putting out over 140cc per day. I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and bought 500 mg Bromelain (I take it four times a day), and Arnica Montana pellets. I could feel them going to work on the fluid buildup right away. My drains dropped off to less than 10cc over the last two days, and if this keeps up, I'll get those stupid things out soon.

I know you are way past the stage that I'm at, but you might want to try those two supplements if you have not already tried them. I've been fighting swelling from my three month old facelift, and it's totally gone since I've started the supplements. I'm super impressed with them so far.

I'm pre-op, scheduled for surgery 6/25 but my doc is having me take the Bromelain and Arnica Montana regimen as well.
