"My main reason for posting is to let you know to not give up!! Appeal if needed and have documented backup for your appeal. For those of you who will ask: I am on a Medicare Advantage plan and the orig denial said it was "cosmetic" I copied and highlighted their own manual as well as the Medicare manual which states "proceedure is cosmetic UNLESS medically necessary. Hang in there when you think you are right!!!!!"   This is from my June 2 post....I now have my surgery date, June 29. I have last appt with PS this Thurs and pre surg testing next week. Lots to do to get ready for my BIG DAY. Hubby is great with his support !!!! My RNY doc who I adore said to stop in and tell her when my PS is scheduled, so while I am at PS this Thurs, I will drop in at her office. She says she wants to stop  in on her rounds while I am in hosp....just as a friend "no charge"You can't ask for a better surgeon than this one!!

Your RNY surgeon does sound great!  Congrats on getting everything approved.

I'll have to search back to your old threads when I get a chance, but what was the medical necessity for your PS?  Skin issues or mobility I assume?  (Feel free to ignore this very personal question, by the way!)  Is your ticker current?

Good luck with your PS!! Very exciting!

Ticker is definitely not current and no matter what I do it won't let me update! Started at 477 highest, was 417 day of RNY and currently at 247. My "panniculus" hangs very low with loose skin as do large bags over my outter knees and thighs. Also, lots of documented severe yeast infections, and constant growth of horrible things in the skin folds of overhang that I have had to have removed by dermatologist. Was hospitalized 2 times for IV therapy for 10 days each time for cellulitis and my worst fear is that withour the PS, I could develop a severe staph infection or worse! And yes, mobility even though much greater since weight loss is impaired by the overhangs flopping back and forth. Don't ever be afraid to ask, that's what we are all here for....to support each other......Pat

Thanks for that extra info!  You definitely have medical reason to have the surgeries, I'm so glad that your insurance 'saw the light' and are doing the right thing.

I have no idea how to update your ticker - will it let you take it out of your signature line all together?

Congrats on your impressive success!  Very inspiring. :)  Thanks again for be so open about everything.  It's so helpful to those of us that hope to someday follow in your footsteps!
