Reduction done early?

Ok so I'm only 3 months post op, I'm down to 190 and my goal is 130.  I exercise HEAVILY.  I'm training for a 1/2 marathon and I ride horses (dressage) 3x a week, plus 2 days of weight training.  I'm doing fine with everything but my back from my breasts.  I've taken to wearing 2 bras when I do anything but it's not even working anymore.  By the time I've done 5 miles I'm in agony.

I know that my insurance will pay for a reduction and I REALLY want one.  But my worry is if I have it done now (I'm currently a 36ddd/e) as I lose more weight I'll have no boobs left at all.  I'd be happy with a B/C cup but not anything smaller.

So if I go in now and get referred out (I'm sure I will) am I in for a world of hurt after I finish losing weight?  And if I really should wait, someone PLEASE tell me how I can stop this pain.  I"m supposed to be moving to 6 miles next week and I just don't see that happening.

Have you tried a Moving Comfort underwire sports bra?  That's the only brand I like for running, and it has a LOT of support.

I'm guessing you'd need some sort of revision if you had a reduction now & then got down to 130. I think anything more than maybe a 15lb difference could negatively impact the final results.

It doesn't hurt to have a consult now though to see what the PS thinks. If you get down to 130, you might not have enough to still be a B/C so might need implants. I've seen people say they've had the BR first and then implants added later. If that ended up being the recommendation for you, then I'm sure a mini-lift/revision could be part of the second stage surgery.

I'm 3 weeks out from having a BR (went from a 34H to maybe C/D - always had big boobs for my frame so I didn't want to be smaller than a C) & extended TT. Honestly, I've had minimal pain from both and hardly any pain from my breasts since the day of surgery.

But when I worked out w/ my GG/H boobs for maximum support, I wore a DDD Wacoal underwire sports bra (DDD was as high as they go so it wasn't perfect) and a tight fitted supportive fitness tank top. I got the tank top a few sizes too small so it was extra snug.

ETA: I actually wore the Wacoal underwire sports bra as my everyday bra too because I needed the support full-time! I added the tight tank (you know the ones people can prob wear w/o a bra if they're an A/B cup) for high-impact activities.

I hope by heavily you are meaning an hour a day or less of extreme exercise, otherwise I suggest you read this link.  You don't want to go from MO to dead from a heart condition.

As for the surgery it will probably be a huge waste of time, the last 60lbs will more then likely take the majority of fat from your breasts and then you would need to get them redone.

Good Luck.

I agree with MyLady, any loss like that will lead to more sagginess.  I had my first plastics prior to getting to goal due to my chronic back pain from my panni.  I had to have it completely redone after I lost another 70lbs.  Hang on and try some more supportive bras.  I was wearing all kinds of garments to hold my panni up a bit.  It really didn't help.  I hope you can find a bra that helps!  If not, just go for it and know you'll need a revision later.

If you are really in complete agony, you should get a reduction now, but a revision and implants would probably be in your future.

I started out as a 50DDD, ended up as a 34DDD (but mostly skin). I had a lift and am a 34C now.

I am about the same size and I wear Enell or Moving Comfort.  The Enell is what I wore when I rode.  It squishes the girls but they do NOT move.  It also helps with the back pain as well because of the back of the bra is really wide and supportive.  It is worth the money.  My running store sells them.

Thanks everyone.  I figured another surgery for implants would be in my future.  Not sure what to do because if I wait and I don't have enough fat anyway, insurance won't pay at all.  Either way I"m probably out of pocket ofr a surgery.

I will go to a PS and get a recommendation, but I also really thank you for the bra recomendations.  I will check them out ASAPl  Right now I wear a regular supportive (minimizing) underwire with a sports bra that is a size too small but as I said, anything over 4.5 or 5 miles and I get bad pain.

I don't know what your insurance requirements for PS are but your statement "if I don't have enough fat insurance won't pay".  After losing a massive amount of weight chances are while you may not have a lot of fat you will have a lot of extra skin.

Good luck on the consult and hopefully the DR can give you an idea of what will work best for you!

From anectdotal evidence with my insurance, other people who have lost a lot and been left with nothing but skin, they've said that skin removal wasn't enough, you had to have so much fat removed along with it to constitute a reduction.  Since I have Tricare, we can't fight their decisions like others can so I don't hold out much hope.
