toned versus flabby impact on plastic surgery

I have been at my goal for about a year.  I have been working out like crazy for the past year and have built up my muscles, but that only goes so far, so now time for plastic surgery to complete my new body look.  Does it make any difference having muscles and having worked out in preparation of the plastic surgery or would being flabby have been the same to the recovery and work the doctor has to do.  Does this make sense?  I am a female in my mid-50's.

It absolutely makes a difference...the doctor can only work with what he has...give him flabby, he can only do so much.....give him toned, he can do more. My doctor told me "this surgery is 50% you, 50% me."

Oh good! I am hoping it will make for a better outcome and recovery. A bit nervous about it though. I will see on Fri what doc has to say

 Keep working out! Great job!

I worked out like a mad women (can't wait to get back to it, one more week).  My ps said he was impressed with my ab muscles that were underneath all the skin.  He also said that the stronger you are before the faster you recover.

Good luck!

I too am going to miss working out. Who would have thought?! Hope I won't blow it off after being away from it for a while; you know take it or leave it...

I'm glad you asked this and glad to hear the answers.  I've been working out like crazy too and can actually SEE muscle changes happening under the extra skin.

I've been working out attempting to sculpt muscle under the masses of skin I have. I can see them in my arms when I flex but it doesn't look so good on the bottom half of my arm with all the hanging loose skin :( I've been working my core out like a crazy lady in hopes of nice tight abs when I'm finally able to get plastics done!

Thanks all for responding! Seems as if we are thinking and working towards the same goal! I plan to ask about it at my consult later this week!

I can't wait to see my abs after the skin is gone!  I have very good muscle tone after 4 years of working out, and I am TERRIFIED of the down time after surgery and how long it will take to get back to where I am now.

My sentiments exactly! It seems so easy to undo all of the work; especially for my arms. If I skip a week I feel as if I am back at square one!
