Today was *supposed* to be my big day :-( PS postponed

Hi all,

I've been a lurker for the past few months on this PS board as I've gone through the PS research process. I've found so many of your posts invaluable -- thank you for sharing here.

I found a plastic surgeon I feel great about, and I have spent the last few months planning and preparing for my anchor TT and inner thigh lift, which were scheduled for today.

BUT...one week ago, after 1-2 years of feeling great and being active and healthy, I suddenly started having severe abdominal cramps and vomiting. At first I thought it was food poisoning or a stomach bug, but when it persisted for a few days, I ended up in the ER over Memorial Day weekend with what turns out to be a partially obstructed bowel. (somewhat common complication from RNY, I'm learning)

I saw my bariatric surgeon yesterday and he said that it could be my gall bladder, a hernia, ulcer, or a kink in my intestine, but no way to know for sure besides doing a diagnostic lap procedure to check it out and fix whatever needs fixing.

SO...instead of recovering for my long-anticipated PS today, I'm feeling sad and preparing for lap surgery and gall bladder removal next week...with PS rescheduled for July 16.

I'm feeling much better today physically, fortunately. No cramping, although I'm sure I'm still backed up. I'm bummed that thi**** me out of the blue and threw my plans off... But I guess that's life. Plus, maybe the plastic surgeon can make those new lap scars disappear!

Anyway, I just felt the need to post in place where others could understand.

Onward and upward!

Laura

P.S. my iPad auto-corrected "bariatric surgeon" to "barbaric surgeon". An accident? I wonder...

Sorry to hear that. I can only imagine your dissapointment. It stinks that this happened to you, but I love your positive attitude. Sending lots of well wishes your way.

So sorry about this delay!  How disappointing...but luckily July 16th is around the corner.  Here's hoping for a quick recovery from your gall bladder removal and that time flys :)

Well....Im glad this happened before your PS and not during your recovery or once your belly was all nice! Like you said - hopefully theyll be able to hide these new scars as well. Glad they were able to reschedule you not too far off.

Sorry to hear, but your PS is pretty close and will be here in no time. My PS said I should take colace pre-op and post-op since I also had bowel issues at first. Hoping all goes well!!!

Major Bummer!
I can relate to postponement but not to exploratory surgery although I've been having intermittent abdominal pains since February.
My surgery was postponed too but nut because of my body but "emergency" melanoma cases and other procedures that take precedence over other procedures in the hospital Plastics Department where my surgery is supposed to be. Aaarrrgggh!
My iPhone also has spellcheck and decides on its own what my words should be!

Oh I would be so sad and upset too! I hope your exploratory surgery & possible gall bladder removal go well and that they DO figure out what is causing all of this! I'm glad to hear you're feeling a little better now!
