I have a preauthorization by my insurance for a TT. I've changed doctors from the one who got the preauthorization so does it follow to the next doctor or do I need to resubmit?  I have BCBS.

THANKS!!!

You'll have to get a new authorization and it's for the provider that submitted it.

Is it simply calling the insurance company and telling them I have a new dr and they send a new letter or does the new dr have to submit it as a new surgery?

Thanks,
Laura

That happened with my gastric bypass. I was approved for one doctor, but ended up not being approved for the hospital that he performed surgery. I found another surgeon, and they just submitted it from their office, didnt have to do anything else, or jump through any other hoops. Ended up being approved at new surgeon's office within a couple of days.

how did you get BCBS to approve your TT - if you don't mind me asking?

First my policy covers it if it's medically necessary. Not all policies do - they have an exclusion.  In order for it to be medically necessary, the panni had to hang pass the pubic area and have rashes in the fold of the skin with medical documentation. I went to the doctor four times monthly to document it and try different medicines and it didn't help he rashes.  Let me know if you have any questions
