People Trying to Freak Me Out About Thigh Lift!

Hello All,
I asked about thigh lifts on a facebook forum and now I'm freaking out a bit...as the single, solitary comment I received involved stats like how thigh lifts have a 25% infection rate and a high rate of pulling stitches out and that the pain is horrific. I know there are some ladies on here that have had thigh lifts...could you please tell me if you've experienced any of these issues?
Thank you for any help/advice!!

I was told the same! Because of those stats I stayed home from work for 11 weeks, wore my garment for 6 months and did not return to the gym for 3 months. I got 2 seromas that didn't get infected or need draining. I had extensive lipo that made me cry with pain even at 2 weeks out. My LBL and brachioplasty was not painful at all! Nada! Zero pain! But the thighs were! I took my percocets and rested and I survived! I love my results and have no regrets!

I also appreciate your input.
I do have a concern about the scaring after the inner thigh lift. Pictures I have seen really don't show this. I 'm really weighing whether or not I can deal with this scaring vs the way my legs look now. Do you have any pictures of how your healing turned out? (I do consider that everyone heals differently ) Just need some ideas of what It could look like.

Thanks again for your sharing with those of us going through this decision making process.

my scars are from my knee to the grooinand u hardly see them  but they r also over 2 years old
. I personally would rather have scars then flabby skin, my PS  says you have to substitue scars for skin if u want to get rid of the flab

I had two separate operations. 1) LBL and BL  2) thigh lift, arm lift and implants.

I found the thigh lift to be the easier of the two. I had pain that was controlled with vicodin for the first 10 days. The first 3 days are quite rough - unlike the LBL you aren't in the hospital with heavy duty pain killers so you are quite aware of the pain.  I didnt really have much pain if I was staying still but it was extremely painful to get in or out of the bed. Once my husband and I learned how he could best assist me, it was much better and much faster to get up and down.  It took quite a few trys and tears to learn the best way. It is also is difficult and painful lowering yourself onto the toilet.  Invest in a toilet riser!

I pulled a couple of stitches out at the top of the inner thigh and my surgeon placed a staple to stop it from opening farther. I had a one inch opening which closed up on its own. I experienced no seromas.  I was walking around and even went to the mall for a few hours 4 days post -op.  It took me 14 days to be able to do that after the LBL and then I could only get out for an hour.

Be mentally prepared that there will be some pain the first few days but know that it WILL pass.  Be careful when and how you move so that you avoid placing any tension on the thighs/butt/legs.  Baby yourself and have someone there to help for the first 3 days.  You will be fine.  It isnt so terrible and the bad part doesnt last very long.  Good luck.

if u asked you want the truth.
Out of all my surgeries the thighs was the worst, would I do it agin YES, the pain is ot horriffic it ws hard to sit sometimes, walking was no problem at all it was just sitting, pull your loose skin on the top of ur thigh then sit while u r holding it tight then u will kind of know what it feels like.
what u read is true but it does not happen to everyone, there is an inection rate with any surgery.
I dod not get an infection, I did wear my garments and my incision split up near the groin, it was annoying but did not get infected, I have had PS all over except my breasts.

arms  and back being the easiest
belt lipectomy peace of cake
TT with hysterectomy not as bad as I thought
Blepharoplasty just the ointment was anoying
face lift just looked ugly but didn hurt
if u want your thighs done u can do it,people dont stop having babies cause ithurts, cause the outcome is AWESOME
Good Luck
there has to be some pain to be beautiful

I had medical thigh lift, TT, and BL w/ implants done 8 wks ago tomorrow. The worst part for me was the TT,...and I had been most concerned pre-surgery about the thighs. I am 49 and have a  desk job. I took 4 weeks off and needed every bit of that time. I returned to work with half days and over a 2 week period worked myself up to f/t again. I have inner thigh insicisions from knee to groin and then the incision curves over the front of the upper thigh, just below where my underpant leg rests.

I had no infection, but did develop a seroma on one knee at base of incision a few days after my last drain was removed. It was drained and watched very closely and resolved within 2 weeks without complication.

I lived/slept in a recliner the first 2 weeks and I still sleep with a pillow under my knees at night. I no longer have pain, but I feel better keeping my knees a bit bent when I am resting.

Be sure you research your doctor and feel comfortable with him/her. Follow their post-op instructions.  I can honestly say the thighs were not super painful, they just felt strange and "tight" as they heal...and continue to heal. I would do it ALL again in a second...even though it was not a fun experience. The tummy tuck pain for me was awaful...but all worth it.

I took percocet for the first week and half (took that as often as prescribed) along with 5 mg of valium (mostly taken at night).  I then switched to tylenol and my pain was very well managed.I did stay overnight 2 nights after surgery in a medical hotel facility. The original plan was one night but I found I really needed the second night. You will need help the first 3 days, at least, whether you are home or in a hospital.

Thank you all for the helpful information! I think I am still going through with it...I carry all of my weight in my lower body, so I still would like to have normal-ish looking legs and if the thigh lift will help that, then I'm going for it.  :)
