I still have a long way to go but I'd like to start doing some research on having a Tummy Tuck done once i'm done losing all my weight.

I'm scared of having it done .... Just looking for some stories ....good or bad.

Thanks!!!

Well I just had mine yesterday and so far the pain hasn't been too bad. I'm taking painkillers every 4 hrs though to stay ahead of the pain. Yesterday I could barely stand or walk but I think it was because the anesthesia was still in my system. Today I went to my surgeon to check-in and have gotten up to walk around the house several times. When I'm stand up, sit down, or walk, I feel tightness in my stomach that's uncomfortable but not unbearable. I think I have a fairly high threshold for pain so I don't know what your experience will be like.

I have two drains in and they'll probable be for another week. Frankly they are more uncomfortable than anything else but when I'm in my recliner, they're fine.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

ETA: it was an extended tummy tuck so goes around my back on each side to get the love handles. I also had a breast reduction at the same time and except for being a little itchy from the bra, there's no pain.

Thank you for your response ...Im so frustrated right now because even though i have alot more to lose i already have serious rashes under my stomach .... ive been going to the gym 3-4 times a week and assume that because i'm sweating more its causing these rashes to be worse then ever. i just want all this skin cut off! I don't know if the insurance company will pay for it but i've taken pictures of the rashes to build my case to why i NEED to have it done if I get up the nerve to actually do it.

Thanks again!! Good Luck with your recovery!!!

Before my TT I was showering 3 times a day! I would shower before the gym, after the gym and before bed. You may have to do the same until you can afford a panni removal. I felt I smelled bad from the excess skin and never wanted to. Showering so often kept the rashes away!

12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.

Take pictures every time and note how long the rash stays. Go see you PCO so he/she can document it and possibly prescribe something to help. I've heard some insurance cover panni removed if medically necessary. I was 5lbs from my goal so thought it was time to consult with a plastic surgeon. They both felt losing another 5lbs wasn't going to do much to my breast & tummy areas because they were saggy, stretched out, and I had a lot of loose skin. It might be worth consulting with a plastic surgeon to see what they think.

ETA: I'm not sure if you'd want to go through two procedures but you could consider getting a panni sooner and then a tummy tuck if needed later but I'd ask the plastic surgeons about that too. I've heard that with a panni you often lose your belly button. My plastic surgeon kept my belly button and just moved it during the tummy tuck and reshaped it a little.
